I have a chance to swap my mossberg 500 18 1/2" barrel pump for a riverside arms company 12 gauge side by side with a 26" barrel.
Anyone know anything about these?

Not knowing the condition of either I'd say the trade is about even.

The Riverside was made by J. Stevens (Savage Arms ) last made in 1988 I think.

You'll see them in Field grade avarge condition in the $200-250 range.

The Mossburg NIB is in the $280 range not bad for a home protector

I have been looking at trying to get up a rifle and shotgun for CAS shooting next year. Not that easy to come up with money for both. So I figured if I traded the mossberg for the hammer gun I would only have to save up for a rifle. I can then save up for a good coach gun while still having fun.
I know folks keep telling me someone would be happy to let me use their firearms for a bit. But I just wouldn't feel right. Funny thing is I never feel right using someones stuff but I would be the first to offer mine to someone.

By the way.. I totally mised the fact the Riverside was a Mulley .... I think that would put it about circa 1920 or so

Billy I feel the same way.  Easier to give than receive personality.  If something happens to something I borrow, I feel responsible but know I won't expect someone to be responsible if my items quits mid stream.

I think it is not only a good trade, I think it a wise trade.

Yep that's it exactly. If mine breaks I just chalk it up to wear and figure it would have happened even if I was shooting it. But if it's someone elses then I feel I have to either fix it for em or pay to have it fixed. And then I can't apologize enough to them.
