Sir Charles DB, let me see what Ol  number 4 says.

I was going to see if I could just get a straight up trade for another set of Pietta nipples but - if you are paying for shipping and the nipples - that is pretty close to the same.

It was interesting how the slix nipples tips looked taller than the stock nipples but the "body" of the nipple where you can wrench them in and out was juat a bit shorter - so the slix pietta nipples sit exactly how the stock euroarms nipples sit.

This means that the Euroarms berrylium nipples should fit most Pietta guns too.  I guess I will keep mine as back up to the stainless ones depending on final trial.

However, it did appear that there is a very slight sliver of light between the most forward travel of the hammer and the nipple itself.  I may pop some caps tonight in my garage just to check - cause i don't think I will get to a shooting facility until second weekend in May!

The Nipples work GREAT!

Slix Nipples designed for the Pietta pistols fit the Euroarms Roger and Spencer well.

I tried caps tonight and eveything functioned as it should!

SCDB - local cowboy - fellow BP shooter beat ya to them.

I do really highly recommend these already though - with just caps I shot one gun with new nipples and one gun with stock nipples.

The flame that came out of barrel with the slix nipples was so much more impressive comparitively.

I had no failure to fire or cap issues with the stock berrylium nipples but the operation of the slix nipples in getting flame into the gun is superior.

I will be firing these nipples in my R&S's all summer (stock nipples will go into sealed baggies) and will let everyone know how it goes.

However, based on the throw of flame from my guns the other night - I can not imagine the nipples will dissapoint anyone unless the fit per gun (especially the older models) is not right...

I just ordered 2 sets for Pietta's from  Longhunter Supply in Texas - on their web page they say #10 Remington or #11 CCI
I called and they said the #11 CCIs work
We'll see

Old Number 4 didn't make it to EOT, but I talked to his pard Big Iron Buster.  Looks like your wish has been anwered.  They are changing the dimensions on the next batch of nipples to make the cone a little shorter on the Ruger and Uberti nipples.  I can't wait to try the new ones.

Me too; but I guess we'll have to.  Guess I can send these too long ones back.

Shot my first match using the new nipples
Pietta Dance Brothers pair of 44s
The nipples fit the Pietta perfectly
The nipples worked very well with CCI #11 caps
You still have the press the caps onto the nipples after putting them on but they worked well and I had no issues

Hello from Bavaria,

Which Slix-Shot nipples will fit to my Colt1860 2nd Generation Cavalryset and which one for my Belgian Colt Centaure 1960/1860?

If the advantage would be to use a weaker spring which sounds for me promissing, were to buy or how to do it yourself?

Thank you for your support

Are the shorter Uberti Slix Shot Nipples available yet?

I'd like to know if someone would be kind enough to post the coupla phone numbers of the dealers of the Slix nipples????
In regard to all the "opinion stated by the venerable Fox Creek Kid" and the tolerances involved with making a gun ,what I call,"dry fire safe", .........
There's also a tolerance range for the space the hammer can be from the nipple that can off set the other tolerance ranges mentioned by "The Kid". The caps themselves add to the tolerance range.
I see from experience that if there's a space between the hammer nose and the nipples that's not to wide for the hammer to wack the cap against the nipple and ignite it it's good to go with no hammer nose damage or at least very little making it negligible.
I've done dry fire safe hammers that may have a very small imprint of the cone to the hammer nose but......if the space between the hammer and the cone is wide enough that amount of imprint stays at a point it's negligible. If I don't want any impring at all I just soften the hammer.....file.....check by dry fire....if alls good.....reharden the hammer and go to shootin.
The tolerance in the gun parts is a problem but if a person understands mechanical stuff and doesn't get too overly indepth and intelligent about it ,like Fox Creek Kid, life can be a little more accomodating as can the dry fire safe hammers. The space between the hammer and the nipple with it's tolerance range accomodates doing a dry fire safe hammer even considering how the hammers are loose on their screws and act a little like a rebounding hammer on a new Winchester 1886 or a Marlin 36 22cal. rifle. You know...the hammer kinda jumps a little further forward and then bounces back to where it rests because of loose tolerances in the gun parts of a cap&baller. The Ruger Old Army is probably not as loose as the Italian guns though.
Anywhoooooo.......I am just trying to say ,and getting too involved about it, that the illustrious Fox Creek Kid is getting a little too deep into the aspects of dry fire safe hammers because...there is a tolerance range to the space between the hammer and the nipples when the hammers at rest which would include that little part of it that acts like a rebounding hammer. The stiffness and lackof it to the hammers mainspring fouls all the other tolerances at the same time. Where does that leave an Hombre thunkin like a philosopher like Francis Bacon? Well....they's gettin too compilated about it.  :o ;D I just can't help hackin on Fox Creek Kid though. He's always comin up with stuff he knows more than me and it hurts my fragil ego. ::) ha ha ha ha ha

Bill, I talked to Old No. 4 and he said the next batch of nipples should be out in September.  I've got a couple of pairs of the old ones I need to exchange.  WAY to long.
