As a long time employee of a major home improvement chain this thread really does not suprise me.

Some of the things I have seen and heard are jaw dropping.

The 2 guys buying a hundred 4" x 4" timbers and 2 chain saws to build a retaining wall.  While the 4 x 4's were loaded the one guy went next door to the liquor store and came back with 4 cases of beer and ice for the coolers so they wouldn't get thristy.  We joked that the next time they came in their new nickname would be Stumpy.

Had 1 guy that wanted to know if he could take the guard off his die grinder and put a 71/2" saw blade in it instead of buying a circular saw.

Had a guy yesterday that wanted a couple hose clamps and a splice for the pressure hose on his 3500 psi pressure washer.

Oh well, "stupid is as stupid does".

Vehicles can be as bad, was a bodyman for years.  Saw a lot of weird things.  Wasn't work related but I remember seeing a ball joint out of a 57 Chevy that had broke and been welded.

Trophy move, had a complex with 8 mech rooms.  Project manual said no iron parts.  I take a peek and see a bunch of parts painted green.  Asked the guy who was in charge of the engineering if that didn't mean iron.  Took two months to fix it all and a lot of people who's heat had failed.  Got it runnin just in time for summer.
