Real Buffalo History: Post Card To Sharps Rifle Co
« on: September 12, 2012, 11:26:18 PM »
It is amazing what you can come up with through networking and lots of luck. I had a guy at a gun show talking to me about a post card he had from Barney Day, a notable buffalo hunter from the 1870's.

I showed sincere interest in the card, that was several months ago. Today it is mine. Here is a look...

I never considered myself a failure...I started out at the bottom and happen to like it here!

Wow, nice that you can be in possession of such an interesting piece of history there.

On the other hand, one has to speculate on how practical a .36 caliber bullet on top of 70g of Blackpowder would be?

That's a massive amount of powder in what amounts to a "Squirrel Rifle" caliber in those days.

I can visualize a small bore, full of fouling, that would require constant attention to keep clean.
