My brother used to be an over-the-road trucker, he was in the dispatchers office once when another trucker called in, he was snowed in at Donner Pass, but he told the dispatcher not to worry, they had a MacDonalds now. ;D

The Donners were good folks...always had the neighbors over for dinner (and lunch, and supper, and breakfast, and snacks.)

Having been in the area, for going’ on thirteen years, I go campin’ up in Dog Valley.  This is where some of the party was held.  I often wonder why when a local wants to disagree with ya’,  I hear “I gotta bone tah pick with ya” maybe it was really an invitation to dinner?!

<< By the way I have been stuck in the Sierra, but only for about 12-14 hours on I-80.  Even though the incident creates some great humor (which I will be one of the first to participate), these people went though such hardship. I don't believe I would be one of those that survived.  I have a deep respect for those that made it through.  By the way, locals are usually the ones with the best Donner satire>>

On that note:  Del, got a good recipe for a Hand Sandwich?

Re: "Does anyone have a recipe for a hand sandwich?"

I hear that Jeffry Daumier (sp?) kept a blender by his front door because he liked to greet people with a hand shake. Also, I knew a guy who was going to buy the house he used to live in 'till he found out they wanted an arm and a leg for it. BTW someone asked OJ the other day if he'd ever get married again; he said he might take a stab at it.      ;D ;D ;D
