hello i am a new member and im looking for any info you would have for the serial number 31918 on my Spencer repeater carbine. i really appreciate any help.

Hello Pub,
By your post it appears you want to join our Spencer Shooting Society (SSS). I checked on your serial # 31918 and the closest Spencer serial # to it is 31908, a Spencer Carbine issued to a member of Company I 19th New York Volunteer Cavalry in October, 1864.
This is a "guestimate" on my part only
. However, a large number of Spencer Carbines with serial #s higher and lower than your 31918 were issued to various other New York Volunteer Cavalry units.
