First Colt and some ???

My first Colt in .44 special is set to be delievered this afternoon.
It has the short barrel (4 3/4) and all my other pistols (clones) have the 5.5 inch barrel. I am partiaL to the 5.5 inch barrel. If I decide to change the barrel length on this one, what are the pro's/cons of doing so. Where can I find a Colt barrel?
The pistol is not a collectible (about 10 years old) and is just a carry gun.

You could try Peacemaker Specialists.

I shot it today with some 44 russian rounds. Based on the serial number it was made in 1981. I think I'll keep the short barrel.

I love the 4 3/4 personally. After a bit, you will find nothing else balances like them. The ones I have are good shooters too,,better than some folks expect them to be.
