Digital Powder System....Anyone use one of these????
« on: June 22, 2012, 06:30:36 AM »
Just wondering if the diital powder system offered by Lyman is worth the money?  It is the kind that measures each charge for you.  Has anyone used these and would you recommend one for use?

Been using one for over a year. Absolutely adore the thing. It will work you to death when you use the automatic repeat function.
This last spring we had a terrible dry wind and the static electricity those things can generate fried my dps and some other electronic stuff I had turned on. I called lyman and asked about repair, they asked when I bought it and they said sure send it in.
A couple of weeks later I called to see when it might be sent back and about what the cost might be for the repairs. ;D The lady informed me they had put in a new key pad and it had already been shipped back, and that there was no charge.....
;D Yup I'm very happy with mine and find it well worth the money, but one word of caution, it will spoil you forever and make you realize the drudgery of mechanical powder measures.....

I have a PACT system that I bought about 15 years ago.  5 years ago I sent it in to be regeared so it dispenses faster.  I really like it (the digital systems) when I load modern powder for High Power Rifle.   Havnt used it much for CAS shooting.  Did load a few 45-70, 38-55, and 30-30 with Hodg 4198 as the grains are fine and thread like and are a PITA to throw.

My CAS rounds are loaded eithe with a modified RCBS uniflow, little dandy, Lyman and BP I use Lee dippers......

I have the Lyman. Love it. Generally use it for my 38-40's and rifle caliber loads.
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....
