This one is an old EMF Jager made in the 1978-9 period. It was sold as a kit called the californian. As an ffl I got it for $120. I finished it to look old, and apparently succeded. The gun in the picture under it is one said to be Doc Holidays. except for the b/p frame and bbl length they are very similar.

so come on and show us some pix of old, new and them that looks old.

My first dedicated CAS revolver (after coming into the game with a Ruger New Model Blackhawk) was this Uberti Cattleman .... which I still have and use.

One winter, I expended excessive amounts of time and effort casing it in the style used for originals by the Colt London Agency -

Here is my Uberti Hombre purchased several months ago on GUnBroker for $250.00.

It has the Millenium Finish and using materials I purchased off E-Bay I silver plated the backstrap and triggerguard, in addition I Gold plated the hammer, trigger and all screws and then added faux ivory grips from Gripmaker.

Cost for all was slightly more than $300.00.

I have attached a Photo but not sure if it will come thru.

how did that siolver/gold plate work, and what did it cost??

Curley:

The silver was Madalion Brand and was a simple run on, it came as a kit with the silver solution and a sponge. The silver solution is applied to the sponge and then rubbed on the part to be silvered. It works better if the part is shiny and smooth and the part is warm.
The more and harder you rub the better the finish.

The Gold is also Medalion Brand, in order to use it you polish the part as shiny as possible, put the gold solution in the microwave to heat, drop in your parts for about 30 seconds and then rinse in water. If it isn't as Gold appearing as you like repeat the process until it is.

Both Kits worked well for me,when I purchased the Gold Kit it was about $22.00 and the Silver $12.00, if you are patient and willing to wait you can catch them on sale for less.

I know it has only been four months but how is the silver on the back strap holding up?

The finish is holding up well.

On the silver, the more I use the revolver the better it looks, not showing wear at this point.

Good to hear.  I now have three hombre's and plan to give the silver a try since it is holding up well.  Now I need to get off my lazy back side a get some pictures of the hombre's on here.

Not sure there'd be any money in it, at least not the way I went about it!   

Note the "excessive amounts of time" part ..... did things like cutting and fitting the finger-jointed corners entirely by hand with a little "gentleman's saw"  .....
