primer question ?

getting ready to start reloading again got 1000  147gr multon bullets bottle of trail boss and 1000 cci small pistol primers going to start with 3.5 grs of powder the question is i  have a chance to pick up a large number of cci small magium pistol primers for almost nothing can i use them with the trailboss powder or they going be to hot and raise the pressure to high

I've used Mag Primers in .45 ACP, .44 Mag and .357. You didn't say but it sounds like you're going to load .38 spl. If it was me I'd drop the powder charge by 1/2 gr and give it a try. BUT you're on you own there, I can't guarantee the results.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Unless you are at or near maximum load levels, magnum primers should be safe to use.

thanks i've used mag primers with bulleye and aa#5 in 45acp and aa#5 in 41 mag with no problems this my 1st time using trail boss  and didn't know how senstive it is i'll try it and use my rossi 92 or i'll borrow a freinds blackhawlk to test and work up  loads so i don't hurt my colt clones [uberti 1873] now i  miss my contenders they were great to use for working up loads
