Well, truth is I liked it

Regardless of the Brass Remington’s, incorrect 1950-60 saddles, & the fictional history Deviations .

I though, the locations looked good, even if some of the sets were rather poorly conceived.
I am annoyed it was shot in Romainia.

Course, I'm critical because my career has been a Production Designer, Art Director, set builder & Propmaster for 40 + years.

Acting ? Costner is the best I've ever seen him, he was quite convencing.
and the supporting acting was well carried out....

Your Right about Tom Berenger, it was hard to pick him out at first.

Overall though.... I think I'll buy the DVD
when planets align...do the deal !

I liked it also with the exception of the historical inaccuracies.  I did see the list of the cast and didn't recognize Tom Berenger even after my son asked if it was him :-[

I love Tom Berenger,he is a great actor when directed well,i knew it was him right off,i liked the series he had about detectives in the 1800s but it didn't get the ratings i guess, had good story line and i liked the use of the so called modern 1800s tools they used.

From what i researched they stayed pretty close to the real story, ceppin fer a few parts like how Randall died.I reckon he was drunk and fell into a fire,i was in northern ca. once in Eureka and drivin down a beach full of homeless and bus livers,my pard and i saw this drunk and i mean drunk guy that had wet all over himself fall face first into a large camp fire and just lay there,we freaked out stopped my truck and ran over and pulled him out,he lucked out he had a coat on and basicly got a good singing a few blisters and some smokey hair~~I will tell you that was one weird place and i was glad to leave later on..We were there to pick up a horse trailor.

Don't know if i can blame ole D.A fer high tailin it,he may have lost his land and trees to carpet baggers like ole Cline and the guy that played that role was awsome!! Looked just like an attorny i had once that was full of himself,i can't find no fualt in any of the acting skills,Costner true to his words makes them look good! Man if i ever get a chance to act or somethin i want to work under Kevin Costner :)

Now what we gonna watch :'(

According to "The Hatfields and McCoys" by Otis Rice, Devil Anse and two of his brothers were deserters.

Let's see...

A tale about betrayal, unwavering hatred, a deserter, a religious fanatic, their too-closely bred families, cowardly, grasping small-minded, bearded and un-hygenic murderous folks, dark, foreboding hills and mountains, political skullduggery and private law enforcers.

Kinda sounds like a tour in Afghanistan...

I think that story is as old as time St. George.  Proof we are all alike and have the same foibles.   History is always repeating and like Joseph Campbell and James Joyce has shown are stories are the same, just the names change.   I truly think Costner has found his medium in TV.   I think his usual vision is to long for movies.  He did well as far as story telling goes.   I am guessing since several of the actors were European (both lawyer Cline and Costner's wife are English actors) and it was filmed in Romania, they relied on European props.  He worked with European Prop groups for Wyatt Earp because Tombstone, being filmed at the same time had booked most of it.   Since the Italians are the ones making the Brass framed pistols, quite possible the Europeans take them at what Pietta says they are.

Wow, Mr. St. George, my sentiments exactly!  Many of the qalats I "visited" in Wardak province didn't look as if they had changed much since Alexander rolled through!

I thought it was a good, well done series. I too noticed the brass framed Remingtons. They took a few liberties with the story but overall it looked like they did their research and presented it well.

I think my friend Roger Welsch aka Captain Nebraska (The Post Cards from Nebraska guy who used to be on CBS Sunday Morning.)  Said it best, "Now the Scots-Irish know how the Pawnee felt after Dances with Wolves."

As for my self, there is not enough boredom and lack of things to do in my life right now to get me to watch anything with Kevin Costner.

I thought it was awesome.  Good music/ actors, etc.  Took me forever to pick out General Longstreet.  I mean Tom Berenger.

 >:(Filmed in Romania.  WV/ KY is beautiful country.

Sent me and my students running to look up the research on how accurate it was.  As a teacher it is all you can ask for.  It's why I love historic movies (even if they aren't historically correct) they start a conversation.  How many people even knew about the Hatfields & McCoys before the show?

I'm curious about the guns and clothes of course.  Thought I saw my 73 Winchester.
