Unique in 12 Gauge Shotshell

I checked the Alliant load data but there is nothing for 1 oz loads.

What loads do you use with Unique for 12 G using AA or STS hulls and 1 oz loads? I am looking at starting with 20 grains and going from there. Am I in the ballpark.

No, because if they don't have data for it there is most likely a damn good reason.  In case you haven't read this, take a little time and do it.

Then think long and hard about what you asked, then if you think you know more than Alliant who makes the powder, feel free to go for it.

Check the Lee Load-All 2 data, they have loads using Unique.

For what it's worth, the first shotshell reloads I made were with Unique.  It worked fine, but it is dirty as hell.  I ended up giving away half a pound of powder & buying some Clays.

Assuming you are trying to minimize recoil, The difference in felt recoil between 1oz and 1 1/8 oz is marginal. 1 1/8 puts more lead on target and there is a lot more data available . Balistic Products " Advantages IV " manual lists lots of 12 ga 1 1/8 target loads, including several loads using Unique. From there, you can work on getting the gun comfortable to shoot with a kickbuster lace on
pad or something similar.
