32-40 cartridges found "DUKE" headstamp
« on: May 05, 2012, 11:00:27 AM »
I asked my local gun shop to look around for some 38-40. He didn't have any but found a few vintage boxes of 32-40. One box has John Wayne on it and the brass is nickle plated with DUKE as the headstamp!!! Very neat!

OH!  I thought you were still lookin' for .38-55 cases, but all you could find was the Duke comemoratives.

Starline has Duke headstamped brass?

I bought all the brass I need from Track of the Wolf. Great service from these folks on numerous occasions.

Those Duke head stamps are from the "collectable" boxex sold around the time he died. They are pretty valuable to collectors. They also came out with Duke stamped rounds around Dukes 100th bday. They came in neat boxes. I have a box of the 32/40 and a box of the more recent 45lc..

Those "Duke" headstamped 32-40's were made by Winchester to go along with the "Duke" commerative rifle . There's also a "Duke" colt that is a remake of the one he carried in so many films, and they made ammo to go with it. You could get the whole thing in a boxed set, along with the "Duke" holster/belt rig if you cared to spend the money. That was 20 some odd years ago.

These are my Duke rigs made by El Paso Saddlery about 28-30 years ago. In the left belt you can see one of the 32/40 Dike cartridges .
