Hey Buck,My mother just got in a Trumpet and Cornet in her antique shop and I thought of you.The Cornet is marked "Frank Holton and Co.,Elkhorn Wis. U.S.A. and has a mouth piece and case with it.
from what I can find the company dates back to the early 1900's

The Trumpet is marked E.K.Blessing Co. ,Elkhart Ind. It is a "Super Artist" model.it needs a spit valve spring.they are in pretty good condition. If you're interested in them let me know and I'll get some pictures of them. She would like to get $400.00 for the pair plus shipping.
here's a link to the company

A few more from yesterday at the farm.  Went to get iris and sparrow-grass, of course I took my pistol along, told my SIL to bring his if he wanted.  He's got one of those S&W sorta like a Glock things in 40.  I shot it, it really didn't do much for me, except I shoot the brass tossers so seldom I forgot and it took a littly bitty bite out of my thumb on the first shot, my fault and my size 11 hands.   Roll Eyes

Other one he has was a Walther P22, I kinda like it, thought it shout real nice for such a small gun.

Anyway Scott I found out has never shot a single action, so he did a few with my SSM 32 and he loved it.  He wants one, he's thinkin' a 357 Blackhawk for him and a Single-Six 22 for Andrea.  Here he is loading it and Andrea shooting it:

Anyway I showed him somethin' that impressed him, but showed I was out of practice, need to get the loading room set up and get back in shape.  Took a silly-wet ram, about 5"X7' and took it out past the barn:

Sat down and I felt stupid because it took 11 to take it down.  Was 89 of my paces which run right at 30 inches, should be real close to 75.  All the rest were close, about half kicked dirt on it.  Set it up again and let him play, he didn't hit it, but came a lot closer that he thought he could.  He's never shot other than a regular pistol range and has never shot beyond 15 or 20 yards with a pistol.  Of course an accurate Ruger with a 1 pound trigger makes it easier.

I think had the moon not been messin' with the light I'd got it quicker, but I do need to get some stuff loaded.

Mornin'.

Spittin' a l'il out. Nice breeze tho.

That's some fun plinkin', Del. Enjoy the heck outta them sessions with a couple pards. The OFSDAR thing is kinda like that. I'd like to dig up my notes 'n load some 358429 Keiths for some long range stuff out the 28. That was a hoot - 'specially when ya hit sumthin' on purpose.

Gotta go ta Sam's for dope. I know 'bout what it'll cost. Ought ta take just that much cash, driver's license 'n CCW permit - leave all the other plastic ('cept the Glock) here. Be safer that way.....................

Thanks for the coffee, WM Wink

Del, I'd be real rusty, too.

Major, Indiana? The Super Artist is one of Blessing's better grade horns, but depends on when it was made.50's and early 60's are probably the best years. With Holton, the early horns are hard to identify. Later to current production are basically student grade horns. Model numbers for those are on the receiver( where the mouthpiece goes) or on the valve block( usually left side). Might be able to pin down the Super Artist with a serial number. Put it up here using the same method we use for guns or PM me. I might not be able to buy, but do have some collector/player friends  around your area that might be interested.

it's 57 here, cloudy. Had some storms go through here about 11 local time last night. Heavy rain at times, and some pretty big booms. Had to shut down the puters for a bit Roll Eyes Shocked

My favorite green, and you also eat the little roots.

Got the sparrow grass plated, got 10 so far, one from one of Rita's friends, two that spring up in my corn and 7 from the farm, there is more down there, but the dang ground was to hard and they are buried in day lilies and grape vines.  I'm going back after a good rain.   Got my eye out for more to steal, sometimes you see them along county roads, need to toss the shovel in the pick-up when out places, hate to see them lonely along the road.
