AW!  The life of a Lumberjack, commuting with Mother Nature in the Woods!

The deer have gotten so used to me being a fixture on the deck that they will now eat leaves 10 feet away from me.  I flicked my lighter and one of them looked up and you could almost see him shrug his shoulders afore he went back ta eatin.  Guess I'm comunin with nature.

Just found out that Uncle Dennis left the uncomfortable trappings of this life behind last night.  He will be missed.

Some things never work out, gonna do a miniature prairie around my mail box with wild flowers and some Little Blue Stem grass.  Rita got a pack of Purple Cone flower (my favorite) and Black Eyed Susan mix at work.  Was gonna work up the soil and get ready to plant and oops, the mail box is loose.  Had to dig it out, it was not set in concrete, just the dirt. Roll Eyes

Was easy, waited for the mail, dug it out, set it back in and packed some clay around it to hold it in place, dropped a 5 gallon bucket of some Ready-Crete I had on hand in the hole.  Drug out the hose and wet it down.  Should hold far better than what was there.  A better one is a project for another time.

Dad used to set posts in the spring at the farm, dig a hole, put in the post, pack a bit of dirt around the bottom and dump in some Ready-Crete.  Come back next week it'd set enough, cover and go to building fence, just sucked enough moisture out of the ground to work. Grin

It's time for us to get some more of those April showers around here. Our yards look great, but they are gonna need some water soon. I'm gonna fix myself a small fritos pie for lunch.

Mornin All, thank you for the kind words.

Did somethin I much care ta do last night an went ta the movies cause the Marine wanted ta go afore he left.  Didn't care much fer the movie but we all went out ta Chinese afterward an got somemore great customer service.  Father an daughter workin the joint bout bent over backwards fer us at a very reasonable price.  Seems ta happen whenever Steve is with us an the folks don' even know he's in the service.

Rain's finally right around the corner, should get some good thunder outta this one.

Del, I did a mailbox with sackcrete some years ago, kids what knocked it down the first time tried again, mailbox won the fight.

They had a rash of rural mailboxes that got hit about 10 years ago, they thought they were hit by a baseball bat from a car.  Yep, a group of kids got one hell of a lesson on vandalism, they had a car load, guy ridin' shotgun had the bat, missed his swing and caught his head on the box and made a mess.  He was dead when they got to the ER.
