As great of a movie "Josey Wales" is, "The Return of Josey Wales" equally the opposite. Michael Parks is something of an enigma, but that movie was beyond terrible. Looked like something somebody did with a home camcorder in the backyard over a weekend.
The first step of becoming a good shooter is knowing which end the bullet comes out of and being on the other end.

Last week I've watch the movie "Josey Wales". Indeed it is a great movie. I like Clint Eastwood's movies. I have almost all of them. Beside Clint I like Robert Duvall in Open Range; Lonesome Dove; Broken Trail and last but not least as Al Sieber inGeronimo, An American Legend. I've bought a book about Al Sieber a couple of weeks ago by Amazon.com.

"Doing Good ain't got no end" is one we use at work a lot.  It is just a shame that Cap'n Redlegs said it....

That scene where he says about whistling Dixie results in the soldiers lying dead soon after.........I'm pretty sure it's based on an old photo of an actual incident from the 1880's. Eastwood did this in The Flags films.

I've watched Josey Wales so much that the lines spoken in my two favorite scenes, I can toss em' out pretty much as spoken. The scenes where the two bounty hunters (Abe and Lige) try to take Josey on and end up as 'buzzard supper' and at the traders cabin where the two trappers attempt to disarm Josey and see what he can do with his Walkers. Love the 'snear' Josey is giving his wanta'be advisories in the scenes. Have even used the line from Fletcher "Don't piss/pee down my/our back and tell us it's rainin' to a few when needed! 'Endeavour to Persevere' to all! Crow Choker

The supporting cast of characters in the saloon were also great actors - the madam, the piano player, etc.

The 'saloon' crew was well acted. In case some of ya didn't know, the 'Rose' character was played by Joyce Jameson, who was 'Skippy', one of the 'Fun Girls' on the Andy Griffith Show, that is if your into Andy and Barney-one of the greatest TV shows of all time.

Clint Eastwood is in a category all his own. Just like John Wayne.

Funny thing is, you never get tired of watching it.....again..........and again........   :)

I don't hear much in the way of complaints from anyone, so I'm guessing the hardware used throughout the
movie was pretty much spot on, Yes?  Thoughts? For myself I had a problem with the Gatling Guns at the start.
IIRC they only held about 30 rounds before changing the stick. Anyone?

Best Wishes,

Bruce

One of the best westerns and a great movie all around.   While none of the actors, other than Bottoms are really the right age.   Fletcher was a real person, he rode with Bloody Bill and young Jesse James.  He did end up in Texas after the war, minus an arm.   I believe he opened a mill.   Bloody Bill was only about 24 when he was beheaded by the Yankees in Richmond Missouri (about 6 days after he killed my wife's G.G. grandfather).    I am in that area of the country, and one has to learn to sing Dixie or the Battle Hymn of the Republic with equal enthusiasm!
