You gave the answer before I could post but they are apparently what I thought they where. I have seen modern versions of the "sniper glasses", which is what made me think of it. I did not realize that they made "sniper" glasses "way back when".
I don't know the "technical" terms but essentially, the holes cause the shooter to increase focus on the target, while improving his vision. I actually learned about the concept in grade school buy looking through holes in cardboard. It is also similar in principle to that of what we see with "eclipse" boxes... ahh, the olden days, when science actually was important in school.
These would make for a very interesting addition to a shooter's collection. I for one would love to have a pair.
