I recently bought a set of Treso nipples from the Possibles Shop.  They were for my Uberti-made, imported and marked by Iver Johnson 1860 Army Colt that I purchased new in 1975.  I talked with the gent at the P.S. and he said they needed # so-&-so cones or nipples.  I received the order in 5 days from the evening I ordered it.  Great service #1.  Unfortunately, they weren't exactly right.  The thread pitch was exact, but the diameter of the threaded portion was too small.  I called and the P.S. owner advised me that he had contacted the House of Muskets, who are the manufacturer of the entire Treso line.  (They have a LOT more than just nipples/cones)  He was asked by the H.O.M. that rather than simply returning the nips to him and waste more time & postage that anyone with a problem fitting them should simply call J.P. at the House of Muskets.  I did.  In our conversation, J.P. assured me that the P.S. had sold me the correct nipples according to the chart and what I got SHOULD fit Uberti repros.  BUT ... obviously, mine being an older model, the specs had changed over nearly 4 decades.  He (J.P.) asked that I send my 1860 cylinder and one of my older nips that I have been using since I bought the gun.  They were from the (now departed) Uncle Mike's line of stainless steel cones.  He said that my old nips were possibly the same size as the ones that fit Pietta now.  If I sent the cylinder to him, he'd find out exactly what DID fit correctly or, if none of the current stock fit, they would make me a set that fit!  I was impressed and sent the cylinder and one of the SS nipples.  (Why did I want to replace them, I hear you ask?  Well, I have fired them thousands of times and the flash holes are really "burned" open and I get a LOT of blown caps that fall into the guts. 

Well, I sent the things to J.P. and they left on the Monday mail truck.  Imagine my pleased surprise when I received my cylinder, the old SS nipple, and 6 new shiny, gold, Treso nipples!  4 days !!!!!  That is Great service #2)  They are perfect and I have to say that House of Muskets has earned a new customer and I HIGHLY recommend them to you.  By the way, their prices are very good, too! 

Great Service #3)  Also - the US Postal Service played a BIG part in this as well.  I paid only for Priority postage from Indianapolis to Pagosa Springs, Colorado for around $5.85 + insurance, which took it to a bit more than $8.   They paid the return postage.   I sure got MY money's worth!

The only complaint I feel anyone could have is that due to an extensive line of items carried by the House of Muskets, you have to download their catalog from their site.  It's 174 or 184 pages!  Much too big for most websites.

There's a LOT of cool stuff, even things like a repro BP cask!  They say it's only suitable for display, rather than use, but I've never seen any others for sale!  And I'll bet a clever person could actually adapt it to be used safely with a little sealant or beeswax to line the inside.  And that's just one item that sticks out in my mind.

I have bought many products from the Possible Shop, from nipples for my '58 Remington to a Possibles Bag kit . I even wear three shirts made from their Mountain Man Workshirt Pattern (no longer advertised)

The owner of The Possibles Shop is a SASS member in his own right, and makes sure that Customer Service is number one. I have never had a problem or worry ordering from them ...

If I have any problem with them, it is that there is no search engine ... one must thoroughly know the site to find what one is looking for ... and if that is the largest problem I have had, I will happily continue to order from them ...

Yes.  They ARE a bit odd, after all.  Unfortunately, right this moment, the receipt that J.P.sent back to me has E&E'ed me.  (E&E in MilSpeak is Escape & Evade, if you didn't know)

Unlike the stock Uberti and Pietta numbers, i.e. 00-000, the ones I got back were numbered 00-000-000.  But I can't remember the specific model or WHERE I put that darn receipt that they sent back - that J.P. had handwritten the stock number on it before sending it back to me.

 

My mind is failing.  Yesterday was Trash Day.  I MAY have tossed it, 'tho I normally keep papers like that ... that most folks consider useless.  I'm always being asked "Why don't you throw some things away?  You keep SO MUCH junk?!"
 And then someone asks something, or I need an old reference.  And THAT usually happens ONLY right after I throw something away that MOST consider useless.

 

If I find it in the next day or 2 I'll get the number to you.  I actually think it'd be handy for a person in the gun retail business ... or a gun mechanic like you - to have a list showing "custom" numbers for various items out there.  I know that my particular 1860 is a bit of an oddball.  It happened back when Iver Johnson (A. Imperioti or whatever- his Son is the guy now doing the Henry Big-Boy) was the middle-man between Colt & Uberti back when most of the Colt 2nd Gen. guns were made by Uberti, but shipped 'thru Iver J. who did work on them, then sent them on to Colt to be sold.  If my information is correct, Iver Johnson was "allowed" to put their own name on a few guns that were otherwise identical to the Colt products.  This only lasted a few years and I've heard only a few thousand guns marked with Iver Johnson & Uberti were sold.  I have one, and the young lady many know as "Lou Graham" (very active in SASS & GAF) is the only other active shooter I've ever found who has one.  I LOVE  my 1860 and will pass it on to my kids/grandkids/etc. because I'll never part with it.  It's not terribly valuable - it IS an Uberti repro after all, but it is a really fine and well-made piece of the gunmaker's art.  When I bought it, (13 Feb. 1976 for $73.15 - I keep receipts  ) it sat between 2 other 1860s by Colt and they were $125 ea..  This gun FELT and LOOKED exactly the same.  (No surprise because we know WHY, now!  They WERE essentially the same!)  Sure wish I/we could pay those prices NOW, eh?

It isn't Super Gun, by any means, but I am very attached.  You MAY have figgered that out!  LoL!

As promised, I found the stock # of the Treso cones that fit an 1860 Army Colt repro; Uberti made and marked  Iver Johnson.

The correct part # is:  11-50-146

As mentioned, I often keep things others would throw away!
