I guess the folks at IMDB haven't seen THE LAST HUNT (1956) with Robert Taylor. Probably the first movie to showcase the 1876 Winchester.

In "The Last Hunt", buffalo are actually being killed during the annual thinning of the herd by the Park Service. However, I doubt if anyone other than Park Service people are doing the actual thinning. It is in the movie credits. Reloading can also be seen around the campfire.
