Hi All,I am half way thru carving a guitar strap,I was away for the weekend & had it stored wet in a plastic bag,it has developed mold - mildew spots,any hints on how to remove the spots with out chemicals as they may effect the dying when finished.Thanks for any info in advance.Feathers.

Feathers, I haven't tried getting mold off. Some of the other more experienced pards here may be able to help you. FWIW, I never leave a piece wet in a bag. I just let it dry out then re-wet it when I come back to it. That's never adversely affected the project.

If you have to store it wet for some time, put it in the freezer... But that info want help you now  Lips Sealed

Oxalic acid or leather bleach will clean it up. You can get it from Tandy .

If I can't finish up something that is cased (wet) - I just seal it up in a zip loc and put it in the refrigerator.  I've got a flap holster that I cut out two years ago - cased it and went on to other things as it was a duplicate.  It's been sitting on the top shelf for two years and is still in tip top shape - all I'd really have to do is take 'er out, get 'er back to room temperature and it would be ready to carve/emboss.  Just don't let your wife mistake it for lunch meat though . . . you might get a tough sandwich!   Smiley Shocked

Other Tandy stuff I have read says that fully cased leather should not be allowed to dry out.  That is assuming that the leather was fully saturated.  If the leather was cased by just wiping it is down then allowing it to dry is OK.
