I'm up for it, if we can find a place to gather.

i believe the hotel has a meeting room that we could use provided we don't let the wiskey talk to loud when it gets loose from the jug.this has happed after the congress meeting in the past.so depending on the congress meeting ,if we still want to talk to each other what do you think?jeff

Sure would be nice if we could find a place where we could enjoy a cigar with it. Nothing like a good cigar with fine Kentucky bourbon.

That is:  The National Congress of Old Whiskey Samplers. (I'm not sure whether the whiskey is of old or the samplers are old.)

Traditionally, the whiskey samplers have met after dinner on Thursday night. After the first gathering (I believe 08) and second session was added (in 09) on Friday after the Congress meeting. (Of the two, the Thursday session was a plesant social gathering; the one after the Congress meeting was NEEDED.)

I will be bringing 2, possibly 3 items for sampling.
Plan on bringing a locally distilled, Cedar Ridge Dark Rum, gold medal winner, & Bulleit Rye. Possibly might add another locally distilled, Griff's Cowboy Whiskey.

Templeton Rye is hard to get in Iowa. In 2005 4000 cases sold, 2011 20000 cases sold. Hitting the local stores same day as delivery, sold out. Sampled several Rye's available. Settled on Bulleit Rye. After some research, I found out Templeton & Bulleit are distilled at the same distillery.

Two questions. Is Jack Danials historicly correct enough? Can it be bought in that county where the convention is or do I need to have a sealed bottle with me. I know where the Jack Danials is made its a dry country.
See ya when the smoke clears.

Brian, I have been wanting to sample that Bulleit.  I have tried their bourbon and it was tasty.  I don't know that I'll be bringing any samples.  Most of my stock is again at my snowed in cabin.  Since I got my CCW I hardly drink outside the home and I don't remember the last time I have had a drink there. ::)

Not historically correct, but I'm bringing a bottle of Basil Hayden bourbon.

I'm an "Alone Ranger". and won't be at the NCOWS Convention but I will be sampling whiskey in honour of all those who do attend.  In my liquor stock I have some Johnnie Walker in both colours for appetisers, and then I will try some Single Malt.  15 year old Glennfiddich Solera reserve, Another Glenfiddich single malt, and the challenge will be the heel of 10 year old Glenmorangie.  The challenge will be in removing the cork which has stuck fast!

I figger that we should have some authentic Kentucky "Moonshine" to sample at the Convention.
