The rain moved on through this morning. The temp. is gonna top out at about 73 for a high. Victoria is lying on the patio, enjoying the nice weather. She went with me this morning, she enjoyed sticking her head out of the window in the rain. She really doesn't mind where we go, just as long as she gets to go.

Be careful going home, Del.
I love sourdough pretzels, Leo. Both Snyder's from Pa. make some good ones for around here. They do the mini ones, too.
I'd love some, Del..........Hint, hint

Wednesday was my Mom’s baked dinner (Meatloaf, baked beans, and baked Mac and Cheese)
Last night was leftovers.
Tonight it’s steak, baked taters, veggies and hard rolls.
So far the snow blower whammy holds, just wish it didn’t extend itself to the top of the mountain. We could use a lot more moister up in the Serra.

Had salmon steaks on the grill last Friday.
GRILLED SALMON
MARINADE:
2 tbsp. olive oil
1/4 c. onion, grated
1 tsp. freshly grated ginger
1 tsp. minced garlic
2 tbsp. Tamari soy sauce
1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/2 tsp. Paprika
2 tbsp. olive oil for grill
1 lb. salmon fillet or 2 sm. salmon steaks
Combine marinade ingredients let set to soften onion flakes (1-2 hrs)
Place small layer of mixture on bottom of sallow pan.
Place fillets in pan and spread majority of marinade on top of fillets. Cover and refrigerate several hrs.
Cook skin side down on uncovered grill, directly over medium coals for 10 minutes. Turn with a spatula.
Cook until marinade side looks brown.

Been a blizzard around here all day. Lights just came back on after about 8 hours. Glad I'm not one of those linemen out working in this mess. Snow's 'sposed to taper off 'bout noonish tomorrow. Might get a foot, but that'll lust be an average - there's still grass showing in spots.

Thanks fer the recipe Russ. I'm makin bourbon salmon, the recipe was intended fer irish whiskey but when it's all cooked down no one will know the differnce.
2/3 cup (150 ml) Irish or Scotch whisky
2/3 cup (150 ml) water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons brown sugar
6 salmon steaks
Mix whisky, water lemon juice, and brown sugar together in a sauce pan. Add salmon steaks and poach until done, about 7-8 minutes. Remove salmon to warm plate and reduce sauce; pour sauce over salmon steaks and serve.
Variation: Use bourbon instead of Irish or Scotch for a different flavor.
We'll see how it works out.

Up and checking on things, looks like about an 1 1/2 of snow here and according to the radar it's still raining at work about 5 miles away as the crow flies.

Buck, here's a recipe dated 1905:

Mexican Dishes
Recipes of Famous Pioneer
Spanish Settlers
Published and For Sale by

Price 35 Cents

NO. 46. SALMON LOAF. Mrs. Catharine H. Pickett, 1314 Faxon street, Superior, Wis.--(Most excellent for picnics or sliced for tea. Lay the slices on a platter, using a garnish of lettuce leaves.)
One-pound can best salmon, four eggs, one cup bread crumbs, one-half cup milk or thin cream, salt and pepper to taste, two tablespoons melted butter. After removing all bones from the salmon, return to it the liquid which covered it when in the can and mix the mass to a smooth paste; add the bread crummbs, milk, well-beaten eggs and seasoning and mix thoroughly and place in a well-buttered tin, pouring the melted butter over the top. An oblong tin such as is used for baking single loaves of bread makes a loaf which will slice to advantage. Bake in a slow oven until the top puffs up. Cool before slicing. (Original.)
We could write her and thank her, but she forgot her zip code.

Got snow, not sure till I go out in it how deep, looked almost knee high on Rowdy. He's happy, he hates the rain. Snow covered dog just went in to tell Rita it snowed, heard yelling.

I think the snow has stopped for now, but still blowing pretty good. No bare spots in sight & the deepest drifts in the yard look to be around four feet. Another good day to spend indoors. I know those linemen are well paid, but they earned it last night.

Thanks for the Cawfee this morning. It's 46 and cloudy, no rain. The rain and storms missed us last night. High wind, lots of rain, and big hail stones. We slept in this morning. My bones have been aching due to the humidity. I took a couple of Advil and got another cup O Cawfee.
