Cylinder dimensions
« on: January 08, 2012, 04:52:55 PM »
For a leather project, I'd like to know the dimensions of an 1858 .44 cylinder. I don't have a Remington myself.

Had one lay'n here, . . . a Kirst Konversion, . . and the calipers handy,....

Pietta cylinder    length   2.025 in.    Diameter 1.625 in.

That may not be exact, . . Enuf for a machinist, . . but should do for leather work, . . .

Uberti cylinders are a just a little longer. I furget just how much bit it ain't very much.   :)
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

Originals Uberti size, Pietta size or somewhere in between or of one end or the other?

Found an article about the Remington Revolving Rifle with 2-3/16 cylinders and a 1 15/16 or 1.9375 cylinders.  Article state it was not known if pistol frames were modified to accept the stock or frames were made to fit the smaller cylinder.
