Still seems kinda strange to me that Cabelas has stores all over the country - wasn't that long ago they were just a catalog store, & the only place you could walk in & buy stuff was Kearney. I worked for them a while answering the phone about the time they started building all those big stores.
They started the store "explosion" about '05 or '06. My local store was built in '07...worked there 3 yrs. I still shop there on occasion.

My "local" store is about an hour west on I-80, & opened in '91. It was their second store & was a really big deal when it opened, but now it's not even one of their bigger stores. It's in(or just outside of) the same town where their corporate headquarters is, & the same town where they started the catalog business selling fishing lures from home.

Dick and Mary are nice folks, great beginning...Jim didn't travel west. I'm off of I-80 a couple 2,000 miles or so. Most of our trade comes from even further west but Donner pass can be ugly this time of year.

The sourdough dump/coffee cake is done, smells great but I'm stuffed. Take one to work in the morning.

Made the bread last night and fed the starter, was ready for pancakes this morning, fed the starter, ready and makin' coffee cake right now. Phase of the moon must have been right when I made it, never had one this active before. If I don't use it for 3-4 days the alcohol goes way up on it.

Just one more day...........
A bright G'Mornin' ta ya'll..
A few clouds, 43° 'n 45%. Sunny, with a high near 45°. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
I'd been in on the yearly bet I'd have won a share. In the southside killin' derby, Portsmouth (Porchmuff to the natives) wins again with the first homicide of the year.
The shoot's scribbled 'n ready ta e-mail with the announcement. Ever'thin's prepared for the week's shootin' activities. Reckon it's time ta start year end paperwerk. Really don't like that. Reminds me of being back in the office.
Today, the team from SE Pennsylvania 'n the other team south are no better'n the Skins. They can throw a big playoffs party 'n watch tagether. Neither of 'em's got nothin' else ta do.

Thanks for the Cawfee this morning. Bacon and egg burritos for breakfast. It's cloudy and 37 this morning, with a high of 50. The Cowboys did not disappoint me last night. My preseason prediction of a record of 8-8 proved to be right. Congrats to everyone that made the playoffs.

It's up to 52 and sunny. I've following the AFC teams more this year, mainly the Texans, Broncos, and Bengals. The Patriots are the teams to beat in the AFC and Slim's Packers in the NFC. We gotta a bunch of Bowl games today, especially the Stanford vs Oklahoma State. The college I graduated from in Oklahoma is part of the OSU family.

Nice day. Winds never showed up. Guessers miss it.
Good day in 'nother way. Fat lady lost a brake light. Run inta my ex-boss it NAPA while I wuz gettin' a bulb. Exchanged some thoughts we couldn't exchange when I was werkin' for 'im. We both had a chuckle 'er three. Nice guy. Busts 'is ass for what 'e makes. The district a**hole we all werked for got fired. Decided ta leave out where my pistol was when he asked me if I had it in my truck one mornin' – got ready ta tell 'im I had it in my ditty bag locked in his van but I didn't 'n that's where it was. Didn't tell 'im taday either.
Better, Jeff, Corporal Merrill, USMC, come home from California for a couple weeks. Goes back next week for a few weeks then he comes back ta Carolina. New station, transferred er whatever they call it. Ennyways, he'll be able to come home from Carolina when he gets a couple days off. Didn't have a car so he went out 'n bought 'im a new Civic. The high end deal with all the bells 'n whistles 'n blacker'n the dark hole ah hell. Damned pretty l'il thingy. With the 'Bird gone I ain't got nothin' in the barn I can't get out the way. We're gonna stick it in there while he's back in California. Right now he's got it up side the house. So many cars next door there's no where to put it but the street 'n the new ain't wore off yet. That'll keep the weather off'n it while 'e's gone. The man's happy. I owe 'im that much.

The Cawfee is strong, hot, and ready this morning. I've already had 2 cups. It's a brisk 34 degrees outside. The heater just came on to warm the den. I stayed up to watch the OSU/Stanford game. It and the Rose Bowl were well worth watching. The Moose fixed us some Pannini's last night for supper. I bought us one of those Cuisnart Grillers. It was my first Pannini and It wasn't bad.
