New (to me) BP Frame to build on
« on: March 06, 2018, 04:04:20 PM »
Hey guys, found me a nice Cavalry black powder frame to try to resurrect back into a Cavalry model. Tho they don't show up well in the photos on the auction, the patent dates and the U.S. are visible, just not real deep. May see if I can get them refreshed. Already have all of the other parts, just need to put it together. Last US frame I came across, someone somewhere had stripped all the serial numbers on it down to '1'. So my other Cavalry Colt is also an 1890 vintage or so but serial number '1', formally 1XXXXX.

Here's a link to the auction for the frame, it's even better looking in person.

I'll try to get some pics of it up as I rebuild it.

Neat find.  A while back Cabela's in Rapid City had an old Colt Parts gun that had an uncut Oliver Anisworth barrel.   I bought the gun in hopes it was a US with the US rubbed off.  Got it home and none of the parts were a real match including the Assembly # on the frame and the loading gate.  I took it back.  It may still be up there.
