56-50 Spencer Factory Ammunition
« on: August 23, 2005, 03:35:03 PM »

I have contacted the owners of the Republic Metallic Cartridge Co. and they are willing to add 56-50 Spencer to their black powder ammunition line if there is enough interest.

They already load 10 gauge, 12 gauge, 45-70, 45-90, 45 Colt, 45 Schofield, 44-40, and they are tooling up for 44 Colt and 44 Russian.

Please drop them an email if you would like to see this cartridge loaded, and while you are there check out their other ammunition.  If you have an old Damascus barreled shotgun, or a 45-70 black powder rifle, they have your ammunition.

I emailed them sending my support for them making 56-50 ammo.  Here is the response I received:

"Hello Brian,

Thank you for the suggestion. We would indeed love to produce ammo for this fine
repeater. Its simply a matter of having enough people interested.

I too have seen the 56-50 Taylor ammo listing for very high prices. If we decide
to produce it we will do our best to keep the cost down. The big factor with
this cartridge is the price for brass which retails for approx. $1.00 per
piece.(Be thankful your not shooting 577-450 Martini Henry:$4.50 per pieces!!).

If you know of others who are interested please have them contact us.

Thanks for your interest."

Please email them with your interest.  I figure as more and more companies start making 56-50 ammo, the price will only go down.  This can only be a good thing!  Even if you don't shoot a 56-50, lend your support.  Cheaper ammo can only promote Spencer production and ownership.
