I just bought my early present. It is an early model Uberti 1873 (Navy Arms) Carbine 44WCF. Very nice condition with the plain oiled walnut stock & fore piece. Carbine steel butt with the cleaning rod sliding door. Some one changed out the rear sight to a marbles sight. I just happened to have a 73 Carbine ladder sight and it is now correct.
This is my second Uberti 73 Carbine 44WCF. The one I use for CAS/SASS has a Pioneer short stroke kit installed with Whisper springs and Marble's full buckhorn rear sight.
The NA/ 73 will stay stock, It has an action job by a well known Arizona 73 Gunsmith. The action is as slick as a Toad's tongue.
This piece will be used for a back-up and also a side match Rifle.
I also shoot a pair of Custom Colt 44WCF, they each have a factory fitted 44 Special cylinder & bushing. They enjoy digesting BP in the 44WCF cylinders & Smokless Unique in the 44 cylinders.
Always remember, Winchester designed the 73 for the 44WCF.
The 45 Colt chambering never existed in the 73.
