Wanna feel dumb stupid?

Dropped a hunka tree 'n crushed some toes on the left foot 'round five thirty one afternoon. 'Bout midnight I went ta the ER. Hadda new truck with a five speed 'n a new sedan, hers, with an auto. Drove the truck.

When the Doc tells ya he's gonna drill a couple holes in the nail 'n it ain't gonna hurt, he/she's lyin'. Hurt like hell.

Now I got toes taped tagether with this big ole loose sock type bandage o'er 'em. Shoe's in my hand. No cane, No crutch. Truck's parked where no one was likely ta hit it with a door, couple hundred feet from the entrance 'n it's rainin'.

Got to it. Backed it out, hurt like hell. Stuck it in second, hurt like hell, 'n drove it home. Busted lights 'n stop signs too.

The narcs tell me folks'll kill fer Percodan. Didn't help a bit.

Nice looking bench, Del.

We got 3 birds yesterday and 3 today. I got 1 each day. Ground-pounded 'em.

Watching the Pack, now.

'Nother stupid one....
Our family was notorious for throwin' Halloween bashes evey year. Invited a young couple from church to take out riding the day 'o the party. Saddled up the steeds 'bout to mount up and one of 'em stepped on my left foot and mashed the big toe so hard I saw stars. Didn't wanna appear uncouth as to utter an obsenity (or five), and had to go on with the ride. Ride was enjoyable but had to "wrangle" the horses and put them up afterwards. Knowin' my toe was bad I had other chores to get ready for the bash later, I couldn't look until I was ready for a shower and a change to my Zorro costume. The 2nd movie had just come out and had the pirate pants, cape n' sword, the whole bit. Problem was the black cowboy boots I'd planned on wearin'...uh no way....Subbed the boots for Dr. Marten sandles and hooked my spurs on 'em instead. "Zorro the gay blade" I wuz...A bit o' grog and I wuz cuttin' a rug like the best...By the way this is the same foot...
I agree Percodan didn't werk fer me either...Doc got the nail off a couple days later.

Carryin a basket a laundry ta the car some years ago.  Didn't see the little brat left his bicycle in the walk way.  Big left toe went snap in the spokes.  Nuthin ya can do, job at the time was digging ditches in rocky terrain.  That summer was a lot of fun an I didn't know who ta call stupid...me er the kid.  I'm thinkin me fer caryin the basket 'bove ma line a sight, thought I was a genious fer not fallin down the stairs right afore I stepped inta the wheel a that bike.  We's all born proud, it takes some hard lessons ta learn ta be humble.

That Zorro story is a hoot.

Miz Letty, I've had horses step on both of my Big toes at one time or another and lost a few toe nails too. I've had my fair share of broken toes and fingers too. We just finished snapping beans and putting them on boil with new potatoes. I've got a roast with carrots and onions in the oven. It should be some good eats in a couple hours or so.

Dummy award, had a horse get loose an he jus stood in the road.  Couldn't get it to follow me home an outta frustration I smacked it on the butt.  That old boy took off like a rocket and left me sittin in the road wonderin what happened.  I found him in a wild clover field an Lil come and bridled him an walked him home as pretty as ya please.  I was washin egg off ma face fer a spell after that.

A couple 3 years ago O was out unloadin' the pick-up the Monday after Rock Creek Station, was a bit of drizzle, barefoot like most times I'm outside at home.  Was carryin' 2 dutch ovens to the tailgate from the front, slippid and dislocated a toe.  Went in, put it right and taped er up with duck tape and finished.  Rita called for somethin' and asked what was up.  Told her I dislocated my toe and she wondered if she needed to come home and drive me to the ER. Roll Eyes

Hope I don't have no more stupid stories to tell next week, Rita don't think I should do the garage myself, we'll see. Roll Eyes

Glad to see you're on the mend, TLD.  Sore legs and feets ain't the easiest thing to get along with, I'll say!  Hazards of life, I s'pose.  Doing the sort of work I did, I have had probably more than my fair share of mashed digits.  The rest of y'all watch yer step, would ya'?

Many years ago, I was working on a small ranch on weekends - I was in the Navy at the time - and one of the perks was that I could go riding after I got done mucking and such.  They had a big buckskin they called Joker, and he was aptly named.  One afternoon, I got him out of the pasture and saddled him up for a ride; he was known to blow up and dump a rider if they didn't get the cinch good and tight, so I hauled on it, then gave him an elbow to the breadbasket and he went "whuff" and I hauled on it again; seemed good and snug.  I went to get the saddlebags off the stall, had our lunch in them, and came back and jerked the saddlehorn and it didn't move, so I stepped up, and Joker blew - - - and the saddle just rolled right down under his belly and dumped me on my keester underneath him.  He turned his head down and looked at me between his forelegs and  snickered at me - not knickered, snickered; he actually had a grin on his mug.  After I got back on my feet, and righted everything, he let me tighten the cinch again, and we went for our ride.  Maybe it was because I threatened not to let him have his carrots and apples.

54, rainy - but yesterday's NCOWS match turned out to be down-right perfect; mid 60s, a very light breeze, and the clouds were from Black Powder!

TLD, Leo, Slim, Arcey ... and the rest of all y'all, Howdy!  Great story, Zorro ... er, Miz Letty.  Leo, the bike thing gives me shivers.

(One of my 2 horse stories)  I'm not an experienced equestrian, but I've ridden a time er three.  I was ridin' along the side of a hill (back at the ripe old age of eight) and mindin' my own business and the next thing I knew, I woke  up in bed.  It seems that the saddle must've slipped allowinig me and the saddle to end up under the horse: saddle still attached - me on the ground.  In the excitement and being on the hill, the horse stepped on my stomach right under the R side of my rib cage.  I'm told that horses generally try NOT to step on things (besides the ground, of course) but with all that was going on PLUS being on the side of the hill (riding parallel to the top, not climbing) caused the rib-step I got.  My friend's Mom found me some time later.  I had rolled down the hill about 50 ft. and was up against a fence pole - still out cold.  I had only bruises - no cuts or broken bones, but I can STILL see a patch of skin right on the rib line where his hoof dug in.  The bruising lasted for many months.

I was a natural stumblebum back then... and ain't much changed since then ...

Later, amigos y amiga (s)!

Thanks for the Cawfee this mornng. The supper meal turned out good last night, especially the green beans and new potatoes. We should have enough for leftovers. It's 57 and foggy this morning. Last night's baseball game was exciting, that 25 year old kid was awesome. I am hoping for another Ranger win tonight. Sausage and egg burritos for breakfast this morning.

Hey All.

48 'n' cloudy (not Black Powder).

Tip o the day... If ya's used to cooking with iron don't switch ta teflon, specially if it's new.  Ya can taste the stuff if ya aint used ta it.  Smells funny too.

SHB, you is lucky a bruised rib is all that came of that, sounds like it coulda been much worse.
