My First Tip Up (and a second one too.)

Howdy

I just brought this little beauty home. No. 1, 3rd Issue. I suspect I will not be shooting this one, just gonna look at it.

That’s bad business! How long do you think I’d stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he’d pay me that much to stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Neat 1st Model, Third Issue.  When you look at the production numbers on these little tip ups and the early .32s there were a heck of a lot more of these in the old west than the big single actions.

Ah my Dear Driftwood
I do believe that one can fondle it with impunity, if one wipes the drool off!

Just heard from Roy Jinks. It shipped in September of 1870. That makes it the oldest gun I own.

How many hinged S&W's is that now?   Three?  Four?  Yup...you got it bad!  I have a Beretta Laramie, but dearly want a nice S&W 3rd model SA .38 S&W, AKA the Model 1891.  Someday.....

Last count, including the little Tip-Up, I have six hinge framed Smiths.

Yup, you're right, I have it bad.

Uh-oh, another one followed me home this week. A Model 1 1/2 Second Issue, 32 Rimfire. This one shipped in 1873. I'm afraid this is getting habit forming. I actually have a few old 32 RF rounds kicking around, but I think I will keep them in my cartridge collection.
