My pard (I only know him here) Crow Choker is basically worried about "watering down" this great board. He's allowed.
He ... as well as the rest of us are also allowed to ignore any sub-board that the individual has no interest in. Ain't freedom wunnerful?
I agree he's allowed, and he was respectful in his dissenting opinion. However; I do disagree with more that just that the Zoot page should go away. That other exception is that Crow Choker stated Zoot shooters have their own forums. As near as I can find that is incorrect. All the other Zoot boards I can find are child boards established by the good will of the board owner, just like here at CASCity. I only hope I've been as respectful of Crow Choker in my differing opinion as he was in stating his.

Yup, I'll agree with some of what some of you have said, "Looks like fun'! I'll agree with what was said of Marshall Holloway, that he can start any forum topic he wishes, He's the man, it's his forum. Some of you stated you have non-cowboy firearms you'd like to shoot in some form of competition, I sure do, as most of you likely do. I agree to what was said about "more power to gun brothers"! I support any form of firearm shooting and support their right to do so. I'm a strong supporter of 2nd Amendment gun rights, the right to own and shoot. Ya, I agree the Wild Bunch topic and shooting sport is after the 1900's, post-cowboy, turn of the century, but it's at least a 1st cousin. I shoot 45 acp, but most likely will never shoot 'Wild Bunch'. Yes, I know I can ignore the 'Zoot Shooting' topic, just pretend it doesn't exhist. I know I can decide not to read, review, or post on it, but there is 'alot of buts' to consider.
I can turn myself off from the 'Zoot' topic, ie not decide to read or post any threads, I'm not just out of high school my friends and need to be explained the do's and don'ts of life and how to live it. I can ignore the Zoot topic' just as I do 'trash' TV, movies, music, etc. Not saying the Zoot shooting is trash, just not what I'm into OR joined this forum for, as most who have. If a person is or gets into Zoot shooting, join and read a Zoot forum. I started reading and joined this forum, the "Cowboy Action Shooting" forum, ie CAS City, because I like to shoot single action revolvers and lever guns. Love the old west history-love western movies and television (good ones). I joined because of the 'information highway' aspect of learning new ways of doing things or new things period. I'm not a 100% authentic cowboy shooter, in other words, if something I shoot or use isnot 100% the way it was done prior to 1900 or 100% anything, I don't get worried about it or look down at someone who is either. Nor do I have qualms with someone who is, just don't blast me for not being so.
As I stated, I have firearms that are 'not cowboy'. I'm equally happy to shoot police related firearms and shooting courses that are tied in. I used to shoot PPC and police combat courses with glee. I could pump six .357 Mag rounds into a target and cover em' with my hand. I collect and shoot WWI and WWII bolt action rifles, cast my own bullets and would be happy to shoot them in some sort of mid and long range competition. I am a member of a forum that is for military rifles only. I am a member of another forum that deals with all forms of revolvers and auto-pistols. One thing I don't see on them are posts that relate to CAS. If I would start to ask questions on reloading and shooting a 30/06, 8mm, or .303, what kind of reaction would I get on this forum? Most likely be told to go to forums that deal with such issues. I see that there are 'Zooter' forums on the web. Let 'Zooters', and military highpower shooters, etc have theirs, let those interested in cowboy, old west, etc, shooting have theirs.
I have seen myself what happens to clubs, the media, organizations, groups, etc., when the 'fences are let down' and ideas and beliefs are compromized. Look at television. Once upon a time, all the major networks ran programs that any age group could watch. Now the majority of them all are not fit for human consumption of any age group. Same with most movies and alot of recorded music. Once you let things into any organization that has nothing to do with the main purpose of that group, your opening things up for change. Look at what political correctness has done to this country. Again I'm not saying or advocating that Zoot Shooting or their participates are sinister, evil, or to be shunned. It's just that Zoot shooting and cowboy type shooting are far apart in both history and firearms. If Zoot shooting is allowed on a forum that is based on western, pre-1900 attire and guns, then the door should be open for the WW2 reenactors shooting WW2 firearms, and any other group, let em all in to CAS City.
Marshall Holloway, I don't disagree with your right to add additional shooting topic's to CAS, I do disagree when it has nothing to do with CAS and indicated it in my first post and am doing so with this one. Some of the guys who posted relpies seem to be all giggly about the addition. That's fine, but if they want more info on it or want to participate, my thoughts are download a "Zoot' forum. I really like CAS City, but I don't base my life on what I read here. If for some reason you would 'shut er down', I would miss it and be dissapointed, but I could live on. You indicated some of the shooters at a Zoot shoot were SASS members, no problem, but I don't see where that is a 'go ahead' to include that style of shooting in one that is 'cowboy/old west' based. If some of the members here want to shoot Zoot, they'll more in likely still shoot 'CAS'. From what I read, SASS is a shadow of it's former self due to the changing of rules to make everyone happy. Quess I am more NCOWS minded. Allowing alternative shooting styles into a forum based on cowboy shooting could have the same of effect on that forum. I to have other interests besides shooting. I collect and play guitars alot. On one forum that is based on the playing of acoustic guitars, once in a while someone will post a question referring to electric guitars. Quess the question asker didn't notice the forum said "Acoustic Guitar Forum".
Well, I've said my piece for the day. You guys can 'Oh and Ah' over the Zoot topic. I'm gonna just ignore it and hope it dies a fast death here at the "City', don't see much interest so far other than the 'Oh's and Ah's' some of ya proclaimed. Maybe ya were just try'in to 'brown-nose' the Marshall. Anyway Marshall Holloway, I still thank ya for creating and puttin the City on the Internet HIghway, even though AL Gore created the internet. I'm still of the mindset to get rid of it and I'm stickin to it. I'm going to shy away from the 'Zooters' topic after I post this, so "Boy's, ya can have at it throwin rocks at me for what I have said"! Have a good day or night to all as to whenever you are reading this. Yers, Crow Choker
How do you figure tellin people they are "brown nosing" is being respectful? WM

If I tell you that you are brown nosing is that not the same as calling you a brown nose? Do you know what that means? WM

"Brown nosing"? Well, were you? Not that it matters. A lot of character assassins like to hide behind their keyboards saying things they wouldn't dare say to a man's face. But sayin' something don't make it so.
Don't git yer knickers in a knot over anyone's comment re: your character. Your friends know you for what and who you are and like you any way ... ;>)
Peace, brothers! Let's fight the enemy, not each other.

I don't see that ya should get yer shorts in a bunch over this new fangled idea, I think it oughta be a side match in a CAS shoot. Would give everbody a chance ta get a fresh change a clothes after a long hot day of shootin the HOLYBLACK. Any body that didn't want ta participate could always watch or kibitz. Their choice. Then everbody could be HAPPY. WOOHOO.
WM
I assume that was a rehtorical question. If not read my post and see if you think there is any "brown nosing" in it. I don't believe there was. What you just said is about what I said, just in a different way. I don't think I would call anyone a "character assassin". But when they make a post like that I certainly would not say they were being respectful. WM

Care for a little cheese with that w(h)ine?
If this is all you've got to occupy your mind, life's pretty good. Of course, you could always call out the offender and settle it in a manly fashion.
I spent last summer getting radiation treatments for cancer. Took me the better part of a year to recover and get back on my feet.
Several folks I met at the clinic are looking up from the sod.
EVERY day is a good day and damn any man what has anything to say about me - good or bad! Opinions are like (__*__)s - everyone's got one. Life is too short to suffer fools.

I would love to try shooting zoot suit. The thing holding me back is equipment and a club near me having events. I started with SASS and I will stick with it, but I also shoot W3G and have a lot of fun with that too, but I don't have the equipment for shooting wild bunch, but I don't care if anyone else does. I like how folks have costumed up for wild bunch and zoot shooting.
In short, if someone wants to shoot a certain discipline, has the equipment and a place to do that, more power to them and it is another shooting sport. Anything that can use firearms in a safe and sane manner has to be fun, fun, fun.
Now, why folks that aren't interested don't skip over this section on the website, I have no idea. Myself, I only click onto the sections that interest me, like this and I still enjoy the Marshal's website and all the time he spends on it and he doesn't even charge me.

I wasn't inferring that you said anything disparaging about me or otherwise, but I guess I was too subtle. I was merely suggesting that you adopt my attitude regarding criticism and the opinions others may have of you.
Meanwhile, backattheranch .... I installed a Pachmayr grip adapter on my Colt NS today. What a difference! I can actually pull the trigger in DA mode and the grip in SA makes cocking the hammer much easier than before. Only mistake Colt made in the design was the grip. Oh, and that hellish strong v-spring in the action.

Like your gun - a lot! I want one of those grip adapters for my NS. The Pachmayr works but it looks like what it is - a cheap piece of plastic I paid $20 for!
I've got the Tyler-T grip info at hand, but I've heard they are long on cashing cheques and short on delivering the goods. Are they back in full production with reasonable delivery time?

Your best bet in locating one will be at a gun show or on ebay.

You referring to the pistol or the grip adapter?
When they become readily available again (the Tyler T-grip, that is), somebody let us know.

P.J.,
Yes.
First, I want the revolver, then I could put a Grip Adapter on it.
Somewhere in my spare parts bin, I still have my original Tyler unit that fit on my Colt Diamondback. I had gotten a set of Pachmayer grips for it and had taken the grip adapter off of it ... and then, around 1981, my apartment was broken into, and the Colt and a bunch of jewelry plus some of my record albums were no more. My Diamondback was one of only 5,000 made (I read somewhere) with the uncommon 2.5" barrel. I still have the original wood grips for it, too. That grip adapter and wood grips sure made a comfortable set-up.

The rules also state:
Any .32 or larger caliber pistol, .32 or larger pistol cartridge firing rifle (straight cased; eg, .351 Winchester) and 20 gauge or larger shotgun produced before 1939 or replica of such may be used as primary guns in AZSA matches
We changed the rules to include the 1940s. The website has not been completely updated but there is a blog about it and the changes were made to the mission statement. AZSA now covers January 1, 1920 - December 31, 1949. The .32 caliber or larger pistol cartridge rule still applies.

Tylers first came around in the 1950's and the only grip adapters I know of prior to that were the factory Smith & Wesson adapters manufactured for the Registered Magnum due to the sharp recoil of the early and original hot .357 loads and a lot of bruised middle fingers from that N Frame trigger guard.

I believe that Patton used such a device on his .357 magnum.
These need to be offered today as well.

There's really nothing like seeing a Thompson spitting cases unless your the one shooting it
I'm going to acquire my own semi-auto Thompson and play Zoot Suit too.
I priced a "Mint" 1943 build, never issued military Thompson this past weekend for a measly $16,995. What a bargain
Think I'll have to settle for a new build semi-auto. I already have the nickel plate 1911 (like Frank Nitti) and a model 12 Riot. I'm IN

Here's my old model 12 made in 1914. Sometime in the 50s I think the recoil pad and PolyChoke were added.

Who refinished your footlocker?
I got another zoot gun a few weeks ago. It's a 5 1/2" M-1905 S&W Hand Ejector and was built in 1910. It shoots pretty nice but I'm going to have to learn a new grip for it.

Who refinished your footlocker?
I got another zoot gun a few weeks ago. It's a 5 1/2" M-1905 S&W Hand Ejector and was built in 1910. It shoots pretty nice but I'm going to have to learn a new grip for it.
The big one is a camphor wood trunk that belonged to my grandparents. The tool box that the shotgun is on is something i picked up at a yard sale and use as a period style shooting box. Neither refinished AFAIK. I really like the 1905 HE, very nice gun, Congrats!

Does the smaller one have tool dividers in it? I ask because it sure looks a lot like the 1870's cavalry footlocker. How long ago did you buy it?
