Dead man walking match
« on: September 04, 2011, 09:51:22 AM »
The Rock River Regulators are mulling the idea of having a "Dead Man Walking" match where if you miss, you're out.  You can buy back in for $10 (used for range improvement).

Experience and remarks with this kind of match would be appreciated.

The last Dept of Mo GAF Muster was sort of like that but you could reload as often as needed to knock down the targets.  BUT if you ran out of ammo on yoiur person before you completed the course, your next of kin would be notified.  Fortunatly all participants were well supplied and all made it through the battle.

Mr. Dastardly, What does the D Man's Match consist of as far as guns allowed? Also where do the Rock River Reg's hold their shoots. Living accross the Mighty 'Mrs. Sip' from ya here in Iowa, might be interested in coming. Yours. CC

The Rock River Regulators hold their matches at the Beloit Rifle Club near Beloit, Wi.  They have adequate room for 13 or more stages plus a fine 200 meter rifle range.  There's plenty of camping space, but no amenities outside of porta potties.  Improvements may come.  They've never held an annual match, but that may very well change.  Right now, they have two monthly matches every month on the first and third saturdays.

As far as the Dead Man Walking idea, it's still in the birthing stage.  Your constructive input is appreciated.

Since I'll be shooting the Minnesota State Championship match this weekend at Morristown, MN, I'll be asking some questions about a "Dead Man Walking" match.  Maybe I'll learn something there.

Thanks,

Dick,

Let us know what you find out.  I find the concept interesting, but have not heard of it before.  I might want to try it at our club in Tejas.
