It was not unheard of in those days for a head to be jerked right off of the body during a hanging. I wonder if that's what happened to the head? Does anyone know what happened to his famous steel mask?

Ned was a tough guy, taught those Britishers a thing or two.  They actually made two movies about him, the second starred Heath Leger, the first starred Mick Jagger!! Shocked   I don't think that Ned would be happy with either one.

If Ned was around today he would be clases as a IRA terorest,He tryed to have a political menefeto published when he robed a Bank in NSW ,and his last act was a failed atemt to de-rail a train and the shoot the suvivers,the armour was so he could move omong the wounded police who would be on the train and finish them off with out getting hert himself,his armour is still on show in Victoria Australia ,His head was removed to make a death mask then beried ,it was thought to have been stolen when the body bos dug up in the 1930s but other say it was never beried and the superintendet of the jail kept it as a sovener and his famly trew it away years later.Australia had a large Irish population at the time ,a lot of them desendants of politacal prisoners who were treated badly by the British establishment so it is understandable why he became a folk hero
