Thanks for the B'Day wishes, y'all. Not bad at the range but it can always be better. Try again next week.

North 'n east side addresses are even, south 'n west odd.

In the hood, we have roads named McGregor, Wedge, Tee, Green Meadows, Bob Jones, Ben Hogan, Gleneagle, Par 'n Player to name a few. Can anyone, besides WM, guess what the houses are built around?

Made the left over chicken, 'taters 'n snaps disappear.

Ya got it, Maj.

Heck, Del. At my advanced age I didn't remember it most the day..................................................

Ain't believin' what I just did. Past three nights when I've been out the side door I been hearin' a cat cryin'. Looked for the stupid thing with a flashlight late last night. Every time, when I started back in the door the damned thing would sound like it paniced.

Found it a few minutes ago. Trapped under Bob's house. The crawl space access door was damaged in Irene. Mike, musta been a week ago, got it plugged up. Reckon it got in there before he did. Wonder it ain't dead by now. Don't want it ta die 'n stink their house up. Called Bob. Took the temporary door away 'n the fat lady stuck a can ah tuna down there. Mebbe that'll lure the thing out. If it does I'll have saved a cat. I'll never forgive myself.

A glorious g'morn from a newly qualified ta Senior shooter.

Partly Cloudy. 64° 'n 93%. A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Southwest wind between 7 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Conflicted, folks. Weren't all that crazy 'bout freein' a feral animal – didn't want it ta croak 'n stink under there. Ain't gotta trap.

Reminds me a bit of the ole boy what's wife 'n kids badgered 'im inta gettin' a cat. Went ta a no-kill shelter 'n picked one out. Right there in the shelter, the cat went from lovin' in one second ta a psychotic killer the next. Went after the boy's hand 'n arm with teeth 'n claws. He decided ta adopt it 'n take it straight ta a shelter what didn't have a no-kill policy.

Well I did good again on the way to work, headed off early and hit the Ace for some more suppies.  Had a deal, donate a $ to the Children"s Hospital, they give you a coupon for $5 off next purchase.  Even gave them the $ before I found out about the coupon.

Hit a couple three garage sales that looked promising garage sales that looked promising from the street, scored good on the second one.  Got a nice plane for $5, pretty good size, about 18-20 inches long with about a 3 inch blade.  Old Wards, but looks like it was made by Stanley.  A few tiny nicks in the blade, but nothing a few minutes with the stones won't fix.  Looked at a smaller one at Ace today, decided to wait but need one later this winter to fix some cupboard doors.

Neither Grandma's or Mom ever bought hog jowls that I remember, they always used ham or bacon for such, saw the hog jowls at the store one time and have used them ever since.

Also they only used Great Northern beans for such or once in a while dried limas.  I think it's a regional thing.

Ancestors of butchers will use everything but the "oinker"...We have eaten it sparingly through out the years and very few markets carry it. Usually get 2 hunks and toss one in the deep freeze for later. Like the oxtails they've gotten pricier over the years.
Got a T-storm upon us so I better get off this confuser iffin' I wanna keep it Roll Eyes

Hog jowls ain't hard to find here, Farmland in Crete about 30 miles away makes them up and most places here carry their products.  Yeah, ox-tails and tongues have sure went up in price.  Oh and chicken wings, ain't payin' more for wings to make soup out of than what decent steak costs.  If I want chicken with a spicey sauce on it I'll use boneless breast or thighs.  Costs far les, less wates and ain't as much of a pia to eat.

Ox tail used ta be the cheapest thing at the store meat dept.  I never much cared fer lengua but my buddy used to eat beef cheek tacos at the place that only had a menu on the wall in Spanish.  Swore by it but I stuck with the basics when we would go there.
