That hit pretty close here also, from the local paper:

Family members say two other soldiers from Nebraska died Saturday when a military helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan.

Twenty-six-year-old Navy SEAL John Douangdara and 30-year-old Nebraska National Guard Sgt. Patrick Hamburger were among the 30 American troops killed in the crash.

Douangdara is from South Sioux City. Hamburger is a Lincoln native who lived in Grand Island.

We got the last of the brush hauled off this morning about 0900. We came home and fixed some sausage, egg and cheese breakfast burritos with more Cawfee.  Moose went on to school to work some more. Victoria and I are inside for the rest of the day.

From the Only In Duh Beach files:

Couple weeks ago I was headed ta the bank 'n got stuck in traffic on Princess Anne Rd. The intersection is bein' widened so it was half way ta be expected. What it was was city werkers were trimmin' the Bradford Pears in the median. Had the stake bed truck parked with the left wheels on the median 'n the right in the road. Taday I got bidness it the same place. The median strip where they were werkin', trees 'n all, are completely gone. Kinda gotta wonder if the powers that be didn't decide ta wait ta rip ever'thing up until after they sent a crew out to trim the trees. My tax dollars at werk.................

We didn't lose anybody in the 'copter crash, but have lost one this weekend while trying to defuse an IED. From Perry Township here Sad Undecided

Thanks for the Cawfee this mornin' Buck. Bro. WM, I am afflicted with that 2w fingered thing myself. This note book has a small keyboard and I have big hands. We gpt the last load of brush hauled off yesterday morning. I am enjoying this leisure time this morning.  Victoria broke off the dew claw on her right front foot last night. I noticed some blood on the sheet  and the claw, when I got up this morning. She won't let me look at it. Another hot day today. The weather folks say we will get some rain on Sunday. I'll believe that, when I see pigs fky.

Hey All, thanks fer the go juice.

Shrimp an snow peas come out right nice, added honey roasted peanuts ta the mix an the wife was pleased.  A little fresh tarragon of the porch didn't hurt none either.

Lil has the day off so we are gettin caught up on some stuff.  Ya all have a good 'un.

Leo, Enjoy the time off.  We went out for supper last night at our favorite Tex-Mex place for food and cold, adult beverages.  I was good this morning and had cereal and toast for breakfast. Supper is a question mark? Victoria and I are enjoying the A/C this afternoon.

Yo, y'all.

L'il over 80° 'n the sun's hidin'. Bit of a north breeze. The summer days of childhood as I remember 'em.

Went Glockin'. Nice time. Saw something that got me all excited but I don't need it, don't want it 'n I'm resistin'.

Did a salad from scratch yestitty. This'n had lettuce in it. Right good. If I'm gonna do another I'm gonna need a recipe er a check list er sumthin'. Et the whole thing then realized I fergot the bacon bits, mushrooms 'n few slices of jalapeno – had all three. No clue fer this evenin'.

Taday's chuckle:

Smoke from the swamp's gettin' ta Andi. They're reportin' the thing's grown ta 4,700 acres of smolderin' peat. Ain't hardly any here. So she throws 'er mutt in the car 'n comes here ta walk the thing with 'er Momma. They been gone a bit. I'm puttin' stuff in the station wagon fer this mornin'. Sun's shinin' bright, one l'il dark cloud floatin' o'er. BAM sun shower. Soaked 'em.

Mutt's all heated when they get back. Tolt 'em ta get 'er water. Fat lady brings it to 'er inna Tupperware bowl. Mutt had 'er some then Andi decided ta sit 'er - ass landed right in the bowl. Mutt got up inna hurry.

Weather here has been a treat.  Played ball with the dog an set up a fountain fer the porch.  Somethin about the runnin water makes all the noise in my head stop, balieve I will be takin ma naps out there as long as the nice temps hold.
