Thanks for the coffee, WM.

72, partly cloudy here. Looking at upper 80's again. Dang parade was a hot one yesterday. Usual stuff, but did get kinda misty when the two NYFD trucks that were present at the towers came by. The one was on duty supplying water for at least 36 hours. Not sure about the other's connection. Both have been restored to their 9/11 configuration......... Roll Eyes Undecided

Thanks for the Cawfee this morning. Cold cereal and toast for breakfast. Too hot already to be outside. Moose left early to work at her school. She called me that the A/C is broken at the school, so I don't think she will be there very long today. I'm going to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy a couple of fans for her room until the A/C gets fixed. I hope that the District has it repaired before school starts in a couple of weeks.

Mornin', folks.

Letty, the problem with werkin' LE as long as I did is it won't wash off when ya quit. Ya just gotta learn ta try'n ignore it.

The livable part left o'er from yestitty lingered a bit. Gettin' more like a sauna now, just ain't here yet. Was out takin' advantage of it. Nicer days are headed this way 'n we're one day closer.

Downside was I couldn't find my derned tire brush. Still got an acre 'n a half of real estate stuck to 'em from Charles City. Want it off.

Major, I am glad that you had "Real" chili last night. Letty, Arcey is right. I retired 2 years ago, 14 years as a city cop and 25 years as a deputy sheriff. You never completely get away from"The Badge". That job is for the young guys. The criminals are younger and faster these days. I will always be a Cop till the day I die. I am proud of my service and feel like I made a difference in peoples lives that I came across.

Mornin has been innerestin.  Lil had the day off so we stayed up late fer no worry of sleepin in.  Landlord had different plans early on an found some nails he just had ta hammer at 0700.  Got up fer coffee an found that a mob of ants decided over night to colonize our kitchen.  There was no food out so we got no idea what the heck they all was doin in here.  If ya aint nevere seen a nekkid woman go ta war with an army a ants ya ain't lived,

It's pickling and canning day fer us.  Lookin forward ta the home made pickles and snap beans.

Never thought ya did, Ms. Letty. Went back ta work part time for 'em doin' background investigations. It was one of them jobs if it was too good to be true it was. Had an office right across the hall from where mine was when I quit. Did a lot of work sittin' right here at home. Hell, I had everything back but my parkin' place. City manager didn't like the idea 'n didn't fund the program for the next year. Fired. Won't happen again.

Not as bad as it has been out but it's still toasty. Finished fiddlin' with the station wagon. It looks clean whether it is or not. Just stand back a few feet. Got in it, turned the A/C on wide open then drove ta Arby's for a big chocolate shake.

Cloudin' up now. I got the thing in the house. C'mon rain.

Storms basically missed us. Heard a couple rumbles, power went out once with nothing happening here then. Then the cable went out and stayed out for a while. Got a light spritzing and that was it Roll Eyes Shocked Undecided

Operation pickle went fine.  Got five jars, some whole, some spears.  All I had ta do was crack the jars ta let the air out when they come outta the pot.  It's too soon but I got ma eye on em already.

Early night here, gotta find ma rack.

August already!?!!?? Hmph; where does the time go??

Arcey, that statement about it not washing off is true, pretty much for anything someone does well for an entire life of working.  For me it is power lines and substations/switchyards; seems I can't NOT look at 'em - like I'm always on patrol, and I've been out of the field since '92, and I got tired, and re-tired-ed in '96.

We got us some humeedity here goin' on.  Been pretty dry the last few summers, but not this one.  We get what they call locally a monsoon effect: comes up from the Gulf of Mexico on the backside of a high pressure system that gets stuck out over New Mexico, and it drags the moist air up through Aridzona and across Las Vegas from the southeast; it gets roiled up by the hot air rising off of the desert and turns into thunderstorms and humidity like we're not accustomed to; thirty percent at 105 feels like having a wet blanket draped over you.  Then, if a low parks itself out in the Pacific off the Baja Penninsula, we get the drag up from it, too.

Hope you enjoy the pickles, Leo; I'm planning on making some with the grand-d sometime before school starts again.  It's late enough that I think I'll bank the fire for y'all, and get the pot ready for the early risers, then be headin' on.

Later.
