baikal mp220 cocking lever fix
« on: July 30, 2011, 05:43:46 PM »
I just got a Baikal sxs and it wants to close on its own. I was at a shoot and a fleer there told me that there is a kit I can get to fix this. Anyone know where?  I would appreciate any help. It is really annoying and costs me time. Thanks Marshall Levi Star

BAIKAL & REMINGTON SPR 210/220 DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUNS

Shooter

I have redesigned the Baikal Cocking levers. The cost is $24.95 per set.
Levers are made from Cold Rolled Steel, Case Hardened and Nickel Plated.

Send me your address & phone number and I will send you a set of levers.
Install levers in your shotgun and try them. Baikal or the Remington SPR210 & SPR220 Double Barrel Shotguns are not made to close tolerances. Levers will not work in some guns.

If the levers work send me a check in the self addressed stamped envelope or place the levers in the envelope and return them to me.

NO COST BUT YOUR TIME TO INSTALL THEM

Thanks for your interest

Thank you Sir for the info.  I sent you an email with my contact information.  I sure hopes it works with my MP 220.  I just bought it a month ago.  I like the shotgun over all just not the auto close ting.

Papa Dave,

Have you had a chance to mail the cocking levers to me??  Just wondering so I know when to expect them.

Papa Dave,

Is this offer still good?  I just bought a Baikal 210 12/26.  It opens hard and closes hard.  Sort of stays open, but that could be because of the stiffness.  The barrel length helps to keep it open too.  But when it loosens up it might not stay open, and if you open it slowly it wants to stop not open all the way.  Could use some advice on loosening it up too.  I was told that toothpaste and baking soda works.

Thanks,

Jim

I think Shotgun Franklin was just relaying info from Papa Dave.  Papa Dave doesn't actually visit this site as far as I know.

As a temporary fix to hold the Baikal barrels open, when the gun is open all the way, put thumb pressure on the lever towards the left and the barrels will stay open.  For a right handed shooter, this works if you reload with your left hand.  I shot my Baikal that way for a year before I gave it to Coyote Cap for an action job.

Thanks Abilene.  A few years have gone by since that post.  Thought it might not be good any more.
