Plug for Tim Bender Hats

   Just received my custom hat from Tim Bender http://www.benderhats.com/about.html

I had placed the order about June 24...he said 4th. week in July , well it arrive right on time...and PERFECT
Just as I ordered and the fit was ...like I had been there for a fitting !
I got the Bell Crown .... and I am pleased ! ....nice 5XXXXX Fur, all hand made...

I highly recommend and indorse Ted Bender

I won't go into the disaster, I went through with a certain rather well known Gettysburg hatter....
save to say, he's a piece of work that one !  
Dirty dealing is his  by word !

I will second the Major's pluG - I own two of Tim's hat and they are excellent - BTW one of mine is Boss of the plains style which Tim does not show so just ask.......

What, Tim does is have you measure you head with seamstress's tape....
I measure @ 22.5" and he'll ask "if you are long oval or something ".

I have had 7 1/8"  that fit well and 7 1/4" be tight
he wants the measurement,  and he made mine in long oval... fit was perfect.

  I'll third the plug on Tim's hat's! Have had three of them at one point or another, best quality and a super nice fellow to deal with. He is an approved vendor over at the Authentic Campaigner (CW site for hardcore authentic reenactors/living historians), and if he meets their authenticity requirements then he must be doing very fine work indeed

I wear it to Mass regularly.

I also do Civil War Reenacting and have two of Tim Bender's hats, a 1858 Hardee and a Porkpie.  The hats are well made and in a word GREAT!

I am revisiting this old thread,

I just ordered a 1911 Campaign hat.... It's not on his Website, I called and he makes them "Word of Mouth"
Order was placed Monday 1/11 and the hat arrive Tues. 1/19 now that was service !

I am very pleased , Nutria Fur and well finished ....and the fit was perfect.

 subtle differences between the 1911 issue and the later Doughboy Campaign hat.
You'll note the higher peak , the 5 rows of stitching on the brim , and the lack of the oval grommets for the stampede strap.
( the hat cord is sewn in to the leather headband on the 1911 version )
Mr. Bender does his homework.
