You are right John, you should have heard the discussion at work today with a couple of younger co-workers who thin a gun room is a man cave.  See to me the term man cave is the space some tormented man, (read whipped) is allowed to go to or more likely is sent by his wife to do things like play video games or drink light beer.  

The the subject of a haver sack in no way a man purse and the "man" who calls one a man purse probally carries more than a pistol, camera and binoculars in it.  That is when his wife ain't carrying them in her purse.  

I'm so glad Rita and I let each other do our own hobbies in peace.

(BTW if we buy the house we are looking at she agrees black walnut trees do not belong is a city yard and it should be cut down and an apple tree planted.  She also said she don't care if I haul it's trunk to a local sawmill and store the remains in the attic for a few years.  I like this one better than the last one, she also has never bought me an ugly sweater and doesn't even expect me to wear one.)

A night shirt is no more than an old-time shirt stretched a little. I'm making shirt #107 from Laughing Moon. Next I'll adapt it as a nightshirt by leaving off the collar and adding a fathom or two....

In the 19th Century the root beers such as Sarsaparilla, ginger beer, birch beer and such were mildly alcholic, but contained maybe 1% by volume.  Yeast was put in the mix when it was bottled and the action on the sugar by the yeast caused it to carbonate and also added a very small amount of alchol to the drink.  Small beer and near beer are beverages of similar alchol content made from cereal.

I started that rumor. I was there and saw it all.   I did two shows that weekend, one at the trailride noon break and another on the ballfield late afternoon. I think everyone in the county showed up for that one. You're right Del, those folks treated us like they appreciated us being there. We weren't allowed to pay for lodging, food or drink the entire weekend. That included at the grocery store, restaurant and bar. Take care.

Didn't know that, it came out of the bargain bin at the fabric store, $2 a yard.  

A little story about that night shirt, and a rumor.  Back in 2004 Gopher Grease and I were hired to cook for a trail ride, last one before the White Horse Ranch was broken up near Naper Nebraska.  We set up in Naper, pop around 150, they practically gave us free run of the town, there were retired ranchers, working cowboys, horse yuppies and everything in-between on that one.

They had a fine supper on Sat night, sirloin pot roast, bread, cobblers, and such.  We cleaned up camp and got ready for making breakfast.  When we were done that's where the rumors started.  See the rumor was I went to the Community Hall took a shower and walked down the middle of Main Street about Midnight in my night shirt, turned the corner and walked into the bar, got up on a bar stool and in a bar full of cowboys hollored to the bartender for an iced tea.

Not true, I walked onluy on the sidewalk.  Let me tell you, had I still drank I could have had a snootfull that night at no cost to me, them guys thought it was a hoot.  Wonder if they had not known me and had empty bellies if I'd have been welcomed like that?
