Heck, Leo. I ain't got the authority ta promote nobody. We all ride the short bus the same.

When I was a kid 'n we'd ride outta Norfolk ta come ta where I live now 'n the farmers stands were goin'. I thought we called 'em snaps cuz that's what we did to 'em. Snapped off the ends 'n if the thing was real long we snapped 'em in half. We'd sit in the livin' room, only the rich folks had dens then, watch a black 'n white, tiny l'il TV with two pots. One for what we kept 'n one for the ends.

Wish I knew half of what Momma 'n Grandma Pearl or Grandma Virginia knew 'bout fixin' 'em right. Musta skipped a generation 'n went straight ta Ali.

Speakin'of who, she, Alex 'n the kids should be here within the hour. They're on the way to a place they've rented for a couple days in OBX. Gonna stop for a break in the trip. Kids are anything like she was they've asked, 'Are we there yet?', a hundred times already.

Snapped a lot of them in the living room of the old farm house watchin' B&W, big bunches of them fresh out of the garden for grandma to can.  Sometimes out under the big mulberry tree.  Could toss the ends on the ground there.

Still got the tin pan grandma used to snap them into and then dump them in a bigger container.  Ate popcorn the other night out of it, popped it in Grandma's skillet.  Some of Grandpa's home grown pop corn and some of Grandma's homemade butter would have made it even better.  Butter churn is on the shelf in Mom's computor room.  One Holstien was named Pansy, been tryin' to rememer the others name for a long time, Mom don't remember, Dad and Grandpa and Grandma are too and little brother is too young to remember much about them.  Barn still has the stanchions in it, the milk stool is still there, and the milk bucket is still in the wash house with the cream seperator.

Cream can is there also, the maroon 1949 Plymouth is long gone, rode in the backseat with the cream can may times.  Alvo Pratt that owned the store where the cream and eggs were traded for groceries is gone.  Ended up at the Quickshop in Syracuse after he retired.  The covered alley between the grocery store and feed store where you un-loaded and loaded is still their, bricked up now, you can sit at a table and order a steak, kitchen is in the grocery store, the bar is in the feed store.

My extra grandpa Gilly Miller lived next door, he's been gone since 75, was a pallbearer, can't get a TV fixed at his store in front of the house any more, can get yer hair cut though, but the palor is only open two days a week, but still not bad for a small town of around 400.   Old Man Seeba still helps his son at the hardware store, Can't get gas though, old man Reezer passed on, Jimmy at the bottom of the hill passed in 72, someone bought his hand gas pump, the only one he had, regular, I was at the sale.

The Broken Spoke is gone, burned down in 89, used to go there, Grandpa would get me an ice cream and he a small glass of beer.

Somehow I feel like I'm deprived. Both sets of Grands were gone by the time I was five. one was gone before i was born, his wife when I was about two or three. they were all the way on the left coast, got out there then and  once in '58. haven't been out since. All the Henderson's are gone now from Dad's family, just some cousin's left. mom's side is pretty much kaput as well. All I got left is some ancestry stuff, and places I want to see on my bucket list If I ever get finances to get out......Buck Roll Eyes Undecided

Was lookin' for something for Rita and her scrap booking, found this, I think 1992, scan from a 35 mm, should see if I can clean up the colors a bit and send a copy to the kids, always liked this one.

Kids grew up, swing set go moved, sand box is gone, We put in a bunch of native wild flowers and grasses in that spot.  Ironic, Midnite ended up a few feet from that sand box, he's been there since 2002.  He was 100% my dog, the one who is in my spot right now with his head on someones shoulder pretends I'm his buddy most times, but only if he wants something or Rita ain't home, he's her dog, that's for sure.  Not a problem, she loved Midnite but didn't know him till he was 5, he never really fully trusted her, she was a woman and two others had left and broke his heart.  He just never wanted to get really close to her, he just knew she was going to leave someday.

Rita went in the gun room one day and got a box of matches, he came and told on her, took me asking her what she did to find it out what she did.  He came and got me and we went downstairs and he just glared at her.  I didn't care, but that gun room was ours in his mind.  He didn't even want her to bother us when we were in there.

Buck, I think ya ought ta start a bucket list on your 21st birthday and every time you're gonna do something ya should ask yourself if you're gonna regret not doing it. Ya might jump right in and get both feet wet a little more often. WM

Thanks for the coffee, WM Wink

One of the BL items is only in the next county, but is going to require a search through the tax records. Gotta find the Briggs farm location circa 1870's-'80's. Great Great(?) grand Mother was related to a famous personage from the Ohio frontier days. A contemporary of D. Boone. Know she passed around 1880, but isn't in any of the current listed cemetary's. Book on the family historic personage lists her grave site in that county, figure it's either on the family farm or if there was a small church close to the farm. You see those small grave yards around here if you're looking close. the other is from Dad's side, G Grandfather is in a cemetary in Michigan, would have to look the city name up again, know its in western Mich.. talked to someone there and there's a listing for him, but a date or two don't quite match what I've got in the family history. Bet it's him though, as that's where he passed at one of my G Uncle's home on New Years Eve yet! Want to get a picture of the site for my cousin out in Waashington state before he passes. Between him and myself and my youngest boy, we've kinda been the family historians. got a site to see over around Del on the list, too, plus we're still trying to unravel the mystery of the non-existent family town site in Va.. so, there's Mich., Neb., and tide water Va. on my list besides Calif........Buck Roll Eyes Shocked

Thanks fer the coffee, WM.

'Tis 52 and partly sunny. "Partly sunny. Patchy fog early in the morning. A chance of showers and thunderstorms until late afternoon...then showers and thunderstorms likely late in the afternoon. Highs 75 to 80. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent."

Dang, got to take a different way to work, they got the street I usually take shut down.  Got some guy holed up threatening to shoot himself since around 10:30 last night, got Lexie's school shut down.

Maybe I have the wrong attitude but I say tell him to do it or they'll shoot him.  No offense to the cops, but I bet some of them are on overtime right now and I would prefer the city not have to pay overtime.   Wink  Esp over somebody that is going to cost us even more money when they get him out.

News this morning says the police are shooting "tear gas pellets" at his windows - I'm thinking they'd get better results with bullets
