Period nacre jewelry & grips
« on: April 21, 2011, 12:06:03 PM »
Nacre (aka mother of pearl) is commonly seen in it's white form on jewelry and gun grips from the Victorian era.

Black nacre and black pearls are very commonly harvested along the Baja California coast.  The conquistadors even noted this as they found loads of black pearls among the native peoples along the Pacific coast.

Nacre comes naturally in a variety of colors (pink, green, black, etc..)   Does any one have pictures or own examples of period nacre grips that are not white?
