Comment Thread for Cavannaugh: West from Appomattox
« on: July 20, 2005, 06:05:30 PM »
Folks, I had such a great time over on the SASS wire with Yarnin' a few years ago (it was a team story) and Legend, which ended a couple of months back (it was solo effort), that I got permission from the good Marshal and our Lady Moderator (and her furschlugginer skillet) to do another story on this board.

This is a story that I started about twenty-five years ago, and it's been sitting on a shelf for most of that time.

I'm going to rewrite it as I go along, and I'd like to ask Annie to set up a seperate comment thread for this one.

It's going to be a SOLO effort, so if you post to the story thread I'll ignore it or refer you to the comments thread.  Thanks.

If it's "Cavannaugh; West From Appomattox", it's already got me hooked.

Good.  This is where the Cavannaugh story (See Yarnin') starts.

Forty, Slim is the moderator, but he'll take care of the story. How about if we make this the comment thread for it?

All you have to do is go back to the original post on this thread and change the subject to : Comment Thread for West of Appomattox.

:D

Dang, Forty, you put us right in the thick of it from the start, don't you! What an excellent beginning!

One small nitpick: In the first paragraph, you spelled "really" as "rally."

More, please?

If the rest is as anything like the first taste (a very visual word description - you had me seein' what he was seein'), it should be good.  Grabbed my interest to the extent of making me want to see what that canteen originally looked like.  Was it something like this http://www.shilohrelics.com/shop/custom_show_images.asp?SKU=SR14711 ?

Hey Rod,

When do we get to see page 3?  Wait much longer, and I'll have to go back and re-read the first two just sos 3'll make sense.  This here oldtimer's affliction sure makes it hard to memember much past this morning. :-[

Hamp, Forty Fonzai was whisked away for the weekend. As much as I'd like to say that he went graciously, he was dragged by his heels, kicking and screaming the whole time. It was a sad sight.

Hopefully he'll be back among the Bozos on the Bus, soon.

Forty, do you want us to post the nit-picky editorial/ typo stuff here, or would you rather get it in an email?

You are spinning an excellent tale. I'm hooked.
