So I am looking towards my next rifle.

Currently I am shooting a Rossi '92.  I really want one of those pre slicked from the gunsmith 66 or 73s.

My question is, short rifle or carbine?

What are the main differences and what are your experiences and suggestions?

Thanks

Holden.

I see more 20'' short rifle 73s than anything else, that's what I prefer, just seems to be the right balance. The main difference is the carbine is shorter and has a barrel band. My suggestion would be to go to some matches and handle a few. Here's a few more comments from another thread. Good Luck

The biggest difference for me is the style of buttplate, I went with a '66 carbine, because the flat carbine buttplate felt more comfortable than the crescent of the rifle.

Don't worry about it.  There's so many forums and so many places where this question would have fit that it would be hard to find them all.  A search would have been difficult as well.

It's really gonna be a matter of personal taste on which to get between those two.   Grin
