BO said that if the Bears make it he will go to the super bowl. Guess he don't realize it's in Dallas. He might wanna think that one over.

Hey Del,
The oldest map I had at home was from 1938, so I found Carman in one here at school. I also found this online:
http://alabamamaps.ua.edu/historicalmaps/us_states/nebraska/index.html
Its the 1914 map. I don't know what the numbers are but they aren't range or township because I panned down to my neighborhood & the numbers didn't make any sense to me.

Pictures were too big, had to split 'em up.

The maps place will not load for me, but the other will get me there. Go to the closest corner of the county, tell me if it is NE< SE or what, then count how many sections north or south, east or west of there it is. That's how I found Bucks town. I'll find it on the Geo map and switch to the photo. I'm closer now than I have ever been.
Worst thing is, it may involve a trip out there, I've got a friend and distant relative out in Vegas that wants to visit the site. But I bet he'll pay for the gas on one of his trips back to town.

Looked more carefully, I think I answered my own question.
Is XXXVI and 20 the NE corner of the county?

They're too big to be sections, have to be townships.

It is. I don't know how you'd find it on google maps, they don't have roads on the section lines up there.

I find it interesting that the only town left in the county wasn't on the map yet in '14

That still gets me a lot closer, the Geo Survey maps on a satellite site will show section lines, once I'm close that way, I'll go to the photo.

The map would have been prepared a year or so before, my info says the town was formed as the county seat in 1913. I think the problem was none were anything but post offices. It became a county in 1913 also.

on that same website is a map dated 1918 that shows Arthur county as still part of Mcpherson county - I think it was probably really a 1908 map.
good luck in your search, let me know if it turns into a road trip, I'd like to ride along.

On the map, it may have been designated a parish.

That's mostly where Catholics are in the majority. Some areas were settled by large Catholic majorities, but but they are far from a majority in the state as a whole.
