The sun is out but the wind is icy. The fridge is looking sorta empty. I need to hit the grocery store this afternoon. I got an extra large crock pot from Bass Pro Shop before Christmas. I can see a Pork Butt in my future. It is definitely stew or chili weather. I can't cook much of anything without a trip to the grocery store.

I know that there are a lot of Duke die hards out there an I count maself one of em, but gotta give credit ta the new True Grit.  Throw rocks if ya want but ol' Jeff does a fine job.

Grillin the chicken in some marinade and chinee 5 spice.  Hopin ta get it ready ta chew within the hour.

Del, when I am sick Angel lays on my feet.  It's about as comfortable as a sick feller could feel.  Like she's tellin me "You just stay right here an get better".  Love that dog.

Good plan Maj.

Who says a salad can't be a meal.  Out did maself on that one and we is stuffed.  Cubed boneless breast an put it in the skittle.  Let some ses-a-me seeds in there ta toast an some marinade with the chinee spice.  Scooped all inta a bowl an chilled it for a spell.  Ripped up some lettuce an threw in some fresh minced garlic an croutons. Shredded some cheddar in there an tossed it all.  Put the yard bird in an tossed somemore.  Balsamic vinegar got mixed in an Lil had her's as is.  I put a touch of bloo cheese on mine an mixed it around.  Gonna do this more often, it's tasty.

Got slow cookin Cawfee on an some cream corn flapjacks fer the AM.  Don't cuss em til ya try em.

A little cooler here this morning, -18º & a bit of a breeze.

Leo, a lot of my meals are salads as the Wife has me on the South Beach Diet.  My favorite part of salads is that every one can be a little different.  Tell me more about your creamed corn flapjacks.

Del, one day off is hardly enough to get over a serious illness.

Chilly ‘n windy. Got it better than some folks. No whinin’ from the lower right hand corner. Tiz what it tiz.

I live on salads in the summer. Make ‘em up with a can of V-8 ‘n take ‘em ta shoots when it’s hot out. Folks with sandwiches ‘n such often say, ‘Wish I’d ah thought ah that.’ Want sumthin’ warmer this time ah year tho.

Lotsa times when I wasn’t all that well I felt better after I got ta the office in the mornin’. They talkin’ ‘bout things downtown in the paper. Makes me miss bein’ in the middle of it. Sick or well.

Easy money Stu...one can of cream corn fer 4 cups of batter.  You may want to cut back the milk a touch.  Top em with butter an yer good ta go.  The kids loved em growin up.  Fergot ta mention on the salad, when I grilled the chicken I added some bacon bits ta the poppy seeds an marinade.  Got enough left over fer a good lunch.

Ice rink is still closed, but it's sposed ta get colder again.  Rained all night an is hazy taday.

Spike Lee was on the taday show runnin down the NRA.  The guy gets me riled, he don't know his pooper from a hole in the ground.  If that idiot in AZ has an effect on gun control all it's gonna do is keep the bad guys armed and the rest of us without.  Enough of that, I'm preachin ta the choir.

I just put another pot O Cawfee on the fire to boil. It's about 26 right now and overcast. I don't think it will get above freezing today. I fixed a Denver omelet and bacon for supper last night. It was a change to have breakfast at night. It turned out good. It feels like a soup day today.

Geezzzz.  Sittin’ at a light ‘n the ‘breeze’ was makin’ the station wagon do the mumbo. Damned thing is 35 pounds short of two tons by its lonesome then with my fat ass in it……..

The grabbers are gonna do that, Leo. They were all o’er the paper’s site showin’ their ignorance. One wrote somethin’ ‘bout ‘extended clip ammo’ from Walmart. There were others equally ridiculous.  Replied to a couple then remembered my old tag line – never argue with a fool. Just when they spurt the ‘sensible and reasonable gun control measures' thing it’s kinda spooky. Wanna make rules for other folks ‘n they don’t know what the hell they’re talkin’ ‘bout.

I hear things are right peaceful in Afghanistan this time a year.  My son in the Marine Corps tells me different but I think he is just pullin ma leg.  How would he know?  Heck, the list goes on an on.  Ya can't call Yugoslavia a violent nation no more cause the violence made it no longer exist.  Last I saw we was still here.  I do rant on.

Try them flapjacks Stu, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Set a garbage bag out side ta take down later.  Some critter came an ripped it up an spread everythin around the deck.  Kinda bold fer broad daylight an even the dog didn't know somethin was up.  I didn't hear a thing other than the landlord's dogs yappin so it might been one a them.  I won't make that mistake again.

Had about another 3" overnight. School's closed for today. Got the drive shoveled again.

Seemed like a good day for chili, so I made up a pot of Ohiostyle with some of OT's ground turkey, pintos, reds, onion, and diced and crushed 'maters( no dang sauce in mine). simmered all day, wife and SIL, and my grandchild all had a BUNCH of it!

Things are kind of hormonal around here, both of the dachy's are in heat. Poor Squeak, they had him cornered tonight and the look on his face seemed to say somebody get these crazy females away from me( he's fixed). He's currently hiding under the covers on our bed Roll Eyes
