Lever action shotgun in Monte Walsh
« on: July 11, 2005, 08:45:03 PM »
Did anyone else notice that the character "Shorty" uses a lever action shotgun in the movie "Monte Walsh".  Looks like an 1887; I'm thinking they were Marlin's.  Did anyone else make a lever action shotgun during that time.

Follow-up question I forgot to put in my post.  Has anyone heard any news on the 1887 shotgun replica that's supposed to be in the works.

1887 Winchester. The Chinese ones are supposed to be on the way. Don't know the URL off the top of my head, so if any follow up pard knows the URL for Cap's site, please give it to JR.......Buck 8) ;)

JR,

The site Four-Eyed Buck is referring to is http://www.coyotecap.com.

There are pages for the Chinese copies of both the Winchester 1887 and 1897 shotguns as well as other products and services.  I had Cap check and adjust an original Winchester 1897 Take-Down a couple of years ago.  Not a full race job, mind you, just a function check and chamber job.  Quick service with good communication.

Sincerely,

Prof. A. Wickwire

I think Winchester made the only lever shotgun.

Marlin made one in the late '20's based on the 1893 action, but it was .410 only. Kind of a feather in your cap for a Marlin collector. One in pretty good shape can go for around $1000 up to almost $2000............Buck 8) ::) :o ;)

.410 only?  Don't sound like that would be your first choice for CAS.... ;D

But who caught why the character of Shorty was carrying a shotgun instead of a rifle?

Grizzle Bear,

He was carring it as he could not hit anything with a pistol or rifle.   ;D ;D ;D
