O.K. Gentleman, I think someone named "Doug" needs a serious intervention. First the 1911, Shot Pistols, Woodsman, Maxim Silencers, etc. Now drum roll please;
http://www.zipfactory.com
WOW and it uses 10/22 magazines. This is just what we have all been waiting for, another plastic 22 caliber rifle/pistol. They even show "Special (as in Olympics) Operators" carrying them on the website, pure genius if you ask me. Why would I want to waste my money on an SAA, Double Eagle or a Lightening or any of that old stuff when I can have one of these??? I'm sure that the fine folks at USFA will be able to develop a plastic frame SAA if given enough time and talent.
Seriously, Doug is on to something here; Ruger, Remington and Smith & Wesson have really missed the boat here and USFA has beaten them to the punch. Once production is ramped up, I'm sure that these old school manufacturers will not be able to match Zipfactory in terms of production efficiency and economies of scale. Heck I bet the Ruger will be so busy building a million guns a year that they will just be asleep at the wheel when the military and police adopts these guns as standard issue. Who wouldn't want to mount these under their battle rifle; why shoot them with a .223 or .308 when a 22 LR will do the job.
I guess being rich, doesn't make a person smart. Heck who am I to talk; I used to want a Double Eagle in 38/40 and a Lightening to match. When one can do whatever they want, I guess it should be no surprise when they do. Too bad for the men and women who worked hard to create and produce the finest Single Action Army Revolvers ever made. Their craftsmanship and dedication to detail will be missed by all of us who appreciate quality and cherish fine guns. When the "Doug" has left this world and is long gone and forgotten, the products of USFA will live on and the questions will be asked, "What happened to them", "Why would anyone choose to stop making fine guns such as these" and finally, "What were they thinking".

"What were they thinking". ?
zombie apocalypse ?
US military forces train for zombie apocalypse
The scenario was part of a counterterrorism summit a few weeks ago.
A zombie invasion would have characteristics similar to other catastrophic events and would be 'a federal incident,' a summit organizer says.
Well, lets look at it one way....
SAA's = a limited, somewhat ageing Western Action market place ... with a high price line ( fixed imcome ) & competition
Zip = large Youth market & Video game warriors .... entry level pricing and so far , no Competition...
Doug may be crazy like a fox !

And speaking of fun... Aren't there federal laws against attaching a shoulder stock to a pistol with a barrel length of less than sixteen inches? I assume that the ZiP will be sold as a pistol and note in their promotional film that there is also a "Battle ZiP" configuration where you attach it to a shoulder stock like device. If your idea of fun is introducing yourself to ATF agents then ZiP is the gun for you!

Watched the video and can't figure out why anyone would want to put a .22 on a rail below a .223. What possible use or market is this thing intended for?

Depending on your chosen state of residence (I believe 39 or so still allow Form 1's) this is a tax stamp and a few months wait!
Here we can have SBR's (and full auto, SBS and Silencers).
Maybe the barrel is easily changed on this, uggh, um, er, pistol?
While I am all for new and innovative products it is pretty obvious that USFA does not run their business like the rest of us grownups would.......
I am not trying to denegrate the idea but the "flow" of opinions here seem to all agree.

Same applies here in my state as well, HH. I believe that tax stamp runs around $200.00.
Here is a question for you. If the ZiP is sold as a pistol, and you attach it to a rifle, as seen in USFA's ad, would that be considered the same as adding a shoulder stock and fall under the same ATF restrictions?

I personally enjoy the "New Division Of USFA". It definitely divided the company into smaller and smaller pieces until the Zip is the only thing left.

Well w/o getting into a politics discussion I will just congratulate you on your choice of residence.......
To answer your question I would probably have to look past the regs book and into the rulings. Most people mount SBS (short bbl shotguns) and "flare" launchers under the barrel of their "Modern Military" rifles (I am of the feeling that calling them assault is akin to adding fuel to the fire and tantamount to "reverse" discrimination). I guess this is a "new" avenue for USFA, or maybe a new frontier (like Star Trek) that they are trying to "forge". I just can't figure out why (as stated above) anyone would want a 22 mounted on a rifle........

Pretty succinct
Doesn't zip mean nada?
Sure hope that isn't a sales predictor......
