Picked up a new Lightning!!!

    So I accidentally ran across this baby on Gunsamerica. I picked her up today, WOWSER!!! I am so stoked to have this rifle since they stopped making them.

NICE WOOD.  I have a .44-40 carbine.  Unfortunately it has never worked.  Hope yours does better.

Congrats!  I too had been eyeing that Lightning; that is the nicest one I have ever seen!  I believe that I read that USFA only made around 200 Lightnings, not sure on that number but they sure are scarce.

I believe the number was a little over 400. I didn't do much eying because I bought it 2 minutes after finding it. I couldn't let this one get away.

I spoke to Gary Granger after I bought mine last year.  He said they built about 400 of them.  I found a carbine, which is nice, but would really have loved to have the rifle version like you do.  I love long octagon barrels.

Just keep you eye on the gun auction sites and one will pop up. I am buying some extra parts for it tomorrow like a firing pin, ect. cinthe they will not be made any more.

Congratulations on this beautiful USFA Lightning; it has the nicest wood I have ever seen on any USFA firearm!

Both JP Hendren and I were looking at this very rifle, posted on two sites, Guns America and Guns International.

This acquisition should definitely increase your consumption of .45 Colt ammunition!

Let us all know how it groups when you fire it; if it shoots half as good as it looks, it will be outstanding!
