Massacre in England
« on: June 07, 2010, 05:47:53 AM »
Please keep us Brit shooters in your thoughts as a guy in the Lake District of England has run amok and killed 12 and injured 11 more.

Unfortunately, he was a Firearms Certificate holder and entitled to the shotgun and .22rf rifle that he used to perpetrate this terrible act.

The whole shooting community over here is suitably horrified that something like this should happen again, and I am sure we all commiserate with the affected families.

From what we can gather from varied reports, he had a beef with his twin brother and a solicitor over the terms of a will, shot them first, then went around the local area shooting at random victims, before killing himself.

Guess what??? The 'Anti's' are gathering like a bunch of vultures!!

Real sorry to hear this. Haven't seen the news here yet, but I'm sure it will make the headlines over here too.

It will affect the debate in Canada on a private members bill to scrap the long-gun registry.  Left wing politicians are claiming the registry saves lives.  I'm not sure that they could point to the stats?

I have it! lets outlaw mental health issues (and matches to prevent arson, and water to prevent drowning).

I don't have any details but let me guess:

The Bad Guy was armed but not one Ctizen was armed that left every victim at the mercy of the Bad Guy? Here in Texas armed Citizens have been shooting Bad Guys and our violent crime rate has dropped like a rock in a well.

Apparently some unarmed policemen followed in a commandeered car, but the gunman was a local taxi driver and managed to carry out his intentions and get away to eventually take his own life.

As Shotgun Franklin surmises, none of the local inhabitants were armed, so were unable to affect the result, and presumably no-one was willing to sacrifice his vehicle to bring him to a halt, from his mobile massacre spree.
( He was driving around, shooting out the car window.)

At least our new Prime Minister is saying that there should be no knee-jerk reaction, until all the facts are known.

unarmed policemen

That is the stupidest, worst conceived idea I have ever heard of. 30 years ago I was offered a Police job with the UT system. The first 6 months I was to be unarmed. I politely told'm to stick it.

I seem to recall an individual shooting from a tower in Texas quite a few years back who, by the police's statements btw, who was kept in check by armed citizens from killing even more innocents...
The first step of becoming a good shooter is knowing which end the bullet comes out of and being on the other end.
