Funniest Western
« on: May 16, 2010, 08:25:50 PM »
Funniest westerns ever made? Blazing Saddles  and Rustler's Rhapsody. In many ways Rhapsody is even funnier simply because of the premise.
The first step of becoming a good shooter is knowing which end the bullet comes out of and being on the other end.

Don't leave out "My Name Is Nobody'. Terence Hill gives some unforgettable laughs in this one.
A work in progress.

True, all very good, and let's not forget Trinity...the fast draw scene is classic!

Hallelujah Trail with Lee Remick and Burt Lancaster.  Donald Pleasance as Oracle Jones is a classic in the movie.

How about Going South with Nicholson. I love the scene where they are going to hang him unless one of the towns women will take him for a husband. Some old lady agrees to take him but as they're taking the noose off his neck, she keels over with a heart attack. As the hangman replaces the noose he says to Nicholson," Just ain't your day is it?"

Texas across the River...I had clean forgotten that one! It's been better than thirty years since I saw that one.

I saw "Blazing Saddles" on horseback with a pack of 12 other kids at the drive-in theatre, our steeds standin' at he edge of the chain link fence. Acoustics were good enough with everyone in cars with speakers hanging out windows. Cops cruised the lot & ran us off, we hid in the bushes until they left. We had our snacks packed in our saddle bags. A good time  ;D

How about Evil Roy Slade with John Astin as Evil Roy. I love the scene where he's holding up a bank or payroll office and the clerk is wearing one of those green eye shades. Roy looks at him suspiciously and says, "Where's the rest of your hat?" Then as they're leaving with the money, he yells back at the guy, "And you get yourself a whole hat like everybody else."
