Show Us Your Hats!

Much to my glee, a large box was waiting for me when I got home the other day. It was from the Fort in Newbrassky.

I tore into it, pulling out the two smaller, but still large boxes inside. Opening them, I oohed and ahhh'd, then stuck a new hat on my head. The dogs tilted their head at me with that now well known expression of "AnnieLee's out of her gourd," as I spun around the living room, looking in the mirror and saying:

"I AM A PRETTY GERL!"

The hats are flambouyant (that's an understatement). They are big. They make a statement. I ADORE THEM. Huge thanks to Terry and Linda at the Fort for helping me pick them out.

But you know, I'm not the only cowpoke out there who is vain about a hat. Hats give us the freedom to express ourselves, our personalities. Doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman, we love our hats. So, cummon, post a pic of your hat and tell us

"I am a pretty lady!" if you are a woman, or
"Damn, I am a handsome man!" if you are a man.

I'd like to Annie, but my granddaughter dropped my digital at the wedding reception last week and it doesn't take indoor pics now. Don't think I've got anything close enough to tell what the hat is. I'll check though..........Buck

Here's one of Susie's. When she's not wearing one of what my granddaughter calls her "Foo-Foo" hats, she gravitates towards the gambler style hats with the telescope crease. She's got three, one in red, one in black, and one in PURPLE. This pic was her black one........Buck

And this is me in my Western Bowler. I'll have to say, without a doubt, this is my favorite hat. It stands out from the typical "cowboy" hat or even the dressier top hats.

Not bad, Prof.. Tommy, I guess I'm more used to seeing the Hardy with one side of the brim tacked up, ala the one pic of Gen. Grant........Buck

While they aren't on my head, here's a pair of hats I like. The first one is used for chores around the property and for beating Forty Rod and Buck. The second one is for beating Delmonico since he's a tad more delicate than the other two.

I can't play the screamin' high notes any more, but otherwise I do OK. My other expensive passion  besides cowboy shooting is playing the cornet. Been attending these dixieland jam sessions lately--it's like musical bungee jumping.

 

There's also this hat picture. T'ain't cowboy, but the fall foliage behind me is nice.
